Dezhalyn Cabalse, a student at Madonna Catholic Secondary School, wrote a letter to the editor of the Toronto Star to discuss the behavior of today's youth. While music and video games can help relieve stress, they can become addictive and cause youth to neglect their homework and responsibilities. Media also affects youth by spreading information that makes them more aggressive and believing things that may not be true. Computer games especially can become addictive and make youth lazy, causing them to avoid responsibilities. Dezhalyn hopes the editor will consider her opinions on influencing youth behavior.

Dear Mr. Richards:
My name is Dezhalyn Cabalse, a student of Madonna Catholic Secondary School. I would like to take this opportunity to talk about the behavior of todays youth. I enjoy listening music and playing video games but, I need to control myself because it has disadvantages and advantages. Listening to music and playing video games are fun. It takes your stress away especially when listening to music. It also makes you calm down when you cannot control yourself. Music and video games has disadvantages to the youth. When they get addicted, they forgot to do their homework and their responsibilities at home. In my opinion, media is affecting the youth today. They spread information that makes the youth become more aggressive. Im agreeing that the various media should be penalized with heavy fines and the artists/writers should not be allowed to produce material with overly violent content. It affects the youth because if the media spread an information about anything, the youth will going to believe in the information even though its not true. It affects the youth today especially the computer games. Youth gets addicted and when they get addicted, they dont want to stop playing the computer games which makes them lazy to do their responsibilities. I hope that you will give attention in my opinion about the youths behavior. Dont hesitate to ask me a question.
