Message from the President

Hello everyone,

Let me begin this newsletter with the most heartfelt thank you
that I can give. There has been an almost unbelievable outpouring
of good wishes, good visits, and good food ever since I fell. I say
almost unbelievable, but in fact it should come as no surprise,
knowing this community as I do. We have all been through so
much together and now that I am on the receiving end of your
glorious generosity of spirit, it leaves me humble and also thankful
to be part of such a wonderful group of people. Thank you, thank
you, thank you.
Thanks, too, to Barb Donen, Myra Goldstein, Suzanne Basker,
and all who were the latke mavens this year. And thanks to all
who attended and made the Chanukah concert the success it was.
Sorry I missed it, but I heard nothing but good reports about it.
Next year, I peel all the potatoes myself to make up for missing
this year.
Our liturgical year moves on and soon we will be celebrating
Purim and Passover. But we are also thinking of our Holocaust
Memorial Service, chaired by Linda Epstein. Each one of us has
a gift that can be used, and when we stop and think of what our
martyrs suffered and experienced, saying yes when asked to do
something to help, or even making the effort to attend, is a small
price to pay in honouring their memory and presenting a united
front that says, Never again!
MMM
President, Shir Chadash

Simchas & Announcements

Happy birthday
to Mary Melnychuk, Seymour Neumann, Jack Neumann,
Zachary Sparks, Marc Melnychuk, Aletha Melnychuk, Hanna
Jodrey, Allan Dolovich.
Condolences
to the Laimon family on the passing of Pauline Laimon.
Board meeting
The next board meeting will be held on Sunday, January 11,
2015, at 10 am at the shul.
Purim
The Purim party will be held on Wednesday, March 4, 7 pm.

Correction

We would like to thank Ray Lennark for the purchase of a

printer/photocopier for the shul. In the last issue, as a result of a
misunderstanding, we mistakenly credited Harold Gonick, who
purchased a new vacuum cleaner for the shul.
We are grateful to both Ray and Harold for these generous
donations that go a long way to easing the conducting of Shir
Chadash business and of helping with the upkeep of the shul.
Thank you Ray and Harold.

Sisterhood

The Sisterhood opening meeting was held at my home in December. Id like to remind Sisterhood members that the membership
is $25.00; please contact me if you have not remitted your cheque.
The Sisterhood committee to visit the sick and shut-ins is active,
including visiting our Shir Chadash president, Mary Melnychuk.
We wish her a speedy recovery.
We enjoyed successful Chanukah celebrations, and thank you
to the ladies of Sisterhood for the delicious latkes. Come and join
us as we gather as an extended family at Purim.
