Introduction

Introductory Statement: This strategic plan has been developed by Charlotte


Engineering Early College in order to provide a specific and directed approach to the
management and execution of the Charlotte Engineering Early College Academy of
Engineering over the next 5 years.

Mission Vision Core Values

1.3.1

Mission/Vision: Every student at CEEC will graduate ready for college, an engineering
career and life.

1.3.2

Core Values:
1. Our central intellectual purpose is helping students to problem solve and think
critically.
2. An essential body of knowledge, skills, and dispositions will be identified for student
mastery. Less is more, depth over coverage.
3. CEEC goals apply to all students.
4. CEEC will be highly personalized.
5. A governing practical metaphor will be student-as-worker, teacher-as-coach.
6. Teaching and learning will be documented by student performance on real tasks.
7. The tone of the school will be one of trust and decency.
8. The principal, staff and teachers will act as generalists first and specialists second.
9. Resources will be modest and therefore positioned toward teaching and learning.
10. CEEC will emphasize democratic, fair and equitable practices.

1.4.1 GOAL 1: Establish a Sustainable Plan of Operation through 2020


1.4.1.1 Goal Leaders: Academy Coordinator, Principal, Advisory Board Chairperson
1.4.1.2 Goal Timeline: Final delivery September 2016.
1.4.1.3 Goal Specifics: Identify target state for 2017 School year, put sustainable infrastructure in
place to support target state, develop suitable metrics to monitor and maintain target
model.

GOAL 2: Increase the Advisory Board Industry Partner Presence Across Industries

and Maintain Adequate Representation


1.4.2.1 Goal Leaders: Academy Coordinator, Advisory Board Chairperson
1.4.2.2 Goal Timeline: Goals and Collateral defined by EOY 2016, Sustainability through 2020
1.4.2.3 Goal Specifics: Identify target goals for industry representation, develop collateral and
standardize procedures to assist Advisory Board recruitment (e.g letters, corporate visits,
forums). Track and maintain advisory board participation regularly to maintain existing
partnerships and to identify areas of potential growth.

GOAL 3: Establish, implement, and maintain a model for Work-based Learning

Continuum partnerships.

1.4.3.3 Goal Specifics: Define and publish parameters for work-based learning. Establish
process for identifying and prioritizing target industry partners. Develop process for
delivering Information Sessions to potential partners that include the ability to see
students work,

GOAL 4: Develop standard model for Preparing 10th Grade students to enter college

classes in their subsequent school year.

1.4.4.2 Goal Timeline: Document model for May 2016 School Year, Implement 2017 School
Year, Sustain through 2020
1.4.4.3 Goal Specifics: Document process and procedures to offer Skills workshops during
seminar periods, college class visits, and to monitor at-risk students. Implement standard
model for maintaining preparedness.
