CALL TO WORSHIP
based on Isaiah 43:1-3
But now thus says the Lord,
the One who created you, O Jacob, (say your own name)
the One who formed you, O Israel: (say your own name)
Do not fear, for I have redeemed you;
I have called you by name, (say your own name), you are mine.
When you go through deep waters,
I will be with you.
When you go through rivers of difficulty,
you will not drown.
When you walk through the fire of oppression,
you will not be burned up;
the flames will not consume you.
For I am the Lord, your God,
the Holy One of Israel, your Savior.

OPENING TO GOD
Every moment
you are coming into this moment,
coming into this life,
this one,
coming up out of the water,
breathing in, opening your eyes.
Emerging from the womb of God,
everything is being created,
everything is beginning.
The heavens,
the heart of things, torn open
for you,
God's spirit

Camille Saint-Saens

your spirit,
breathing in you
and saying: You are mine,
my child, my Beloved.
In you is my delight.
What else do you need
to guide you in this new year,
this new life, this eternal life?

BENEDICTION

-We Listen for Gods WordPSALTER

Psalm 29

He will baptize you with the Holy Spirit and fire. His winnowing
fork is in his hand, to clear his threshing floor and to gather the
wheat into his granary; but the chaff he will burn with unquenchable
fire. So, with many other exhortations, he proclaimed the good
news to the people.
Now when all the people were baptized, and when Jesus also had
been baptized and was praying, the heaven was opened, and the
Holy Spirit descended upon him in bodily form like a dove. And a
voice came from heaven, You are my Son, the Beloved; with you I
am well pleased.

GOSPEL LESSON
Luke 3:15-22
As the people were filled with expectation, and all were questioning
in their hearts concerning John, whether he might be the Messiah,
John answered all of them by saying, I baptize you with water; but
one who is more powerful than I is coming; I am not worthy to untie
the thong of his sandals.
