Constitution for LGBTLincs


1. Name
The name of the group shall be LGBTLincs

2. Aims
The aims of LGBTLIncs will be:

To bring together and foster understanding amongst parents who have children who identify as

Lesbian, Gay, Bisexual or Transgender (LGBT1) children from across Lincolnshire.


To walk alongside those parents on their personal journey providing information, support and

resources.
To promote a greater understanding of LGBT issues across Lincolnshire with particular
emphasis amongst church establishments

3. Supporting whom?

LGBTLincs will provide support to all parents who have children that identify as LGBT, from all
faiths and none.

Primarily the parents will reside within Lincolnshire but, if no other solution exists and support is
available, parents who reside outside Lincolnshire will be supported.

Support can be provided through face-to-face meetings, via telephone, email and secure
Facebook group discussions.

There is no fee required to join.

A list of all parents will be kept by the Vice-Chair.

Ceasing to be a member

Parents may leave the group at any point as support is provided as required and requested.

Any parent who divulges information of a personal nature gained from discussions either faceto-face, via telephone, email or on the secure Facebook group, will be cautioned initially and
then, if no apology is received, will be removed.

4. Equal Opportunities
LGBTLincs will not discriminate on the grounds of gender, race, colour, ethnic or national origin,
sexuality, disability, religious or political belief, marital status or age.

5. Officers and committee


The business of the group will be carried out by a LGBTLIncs Committee. The Committee will meet as

necessary and not less than twice a year.

The Committee will consist of at least 3 members, deemed to be comprised of the:


Chair, who shall chair the meetings.
Family Support practitioner.
Vice-Chair, who shall record the minutes from the meetings.

6. Meetings
6.1. Twice Annual Meetings (TAM)

The TAM will:


Monitor progress and determine the future growth of the LGBTLincs group.
Approve the Minutes of the Last TAM.
Provide a record of the work of the LGBTLincs.

7. Finances

An account will be maintained on behalf of the group at a bank agreed by the committee. The
two account signatories will be the Chair and the Vice-Chair.

Records of income and expenditure will be maintained by the Chair and a financial statement
given to each meeting.

All money raised by or on behalf of LGBTLincs is only to be used to further the aims of the
group, as specified in item 2 of this constitution.

8. Amendments to the Constitution


Amendments to the constitution may only be made at a TAM.

10. Dissolution
If a meeting, by simple majority, decides that it is necessary to close down the group it may call a
Special General Meeting to do so. The sole business of this meeting will be to dissolve the group.
If it is agreed to dissolve the group all remaining money and other assets, once outstanding debts have
been paid, will be donated to a local charitable organisation with a similar focus.
