THE WATCHERS AT THE

TOMB
Mary Magdalene and
Mary Mother of
James follow Joseph
and Nicodemus to
the tomb.
They stayed until the
day after the day of
preparation. Then
prepared spices for
the burial.

AFTER THE SABBATH

Mary Magdalene,
Mary the mother of
James and Salome
come early to the
tomb.
A severe earthquake
occurred, the stone
had been rolled
away, and an angel
sat on it.

GUARDS AT THE TOMB

The guards
became like
dead men.
They all
fainted at the
appearance
of the angel.

WHAT THE ANGEL

TOLD THEM
Do not be afraid. Needed after
the earthquake and the
appearance of the angel.
His is not here. The tomb was
already empty when the
women got there.
He is risen. Not just stolen
away.
Go tell the disciples to meet
him in Galilee.

MARY MAGDALENE
REPORTS TO THE DISCIPLES
Mary runs from the
tomb before the
message of the angel.
Reports the empty
tomb to the disciples.
Assumes that Jesus
body has been
moved.

THE WOMEN ENTER THE

TOMB
The other
women enter
the tomb and do
not find the
body.
A second angel
appears with
the first, and
they repeat the
message.
They report to
the eleven
disciples.

PETER AND JOHN COME TO

THE TOMB
Peter and John
respond first to Mary
Magdalenes message
John arrives first,
but does not go in,
but sees the linen
lying there.
Peter arrives and
barges in to the
tomb.
The two of them
believe Jesus words.

MARY MAGDALENE FOLLOWS

PETER AND JOHN BACK TO THE
TOMB
The two angels
appear again to
Mary.
Jesus stands behind
her. Mary thinks
its the gardener.
Jesus calls her by
name, and she
recognizes him.
Jesus has not yet
returned to the
father

JESUS APPEARS TO TWO ON

THE ROAD TO EMMAUS
Jesus approaches two
disciples, one named
Cleopas.
Jesus asks them what
has happened.
Jesus explains how the
scriptures foretold it all.
The two only recognize
him as they eat together.
The disciples still do not
believe them.

JESUS APPEARS TO PETER

Jesus make a special
appearance to Peter.
This was to bring
Peter back into full
fellowship after his
denials of Jesus.
At least some of the
apostles believe him.

JESUS APPEARS TO THE 10 DISCIPLES

WHILE THE TWO ARE REPORTING
Jesus suddenly appears
in their midst
The disciples thought He
was a ghost.
Jesus scolds them for
their unbelief.
Jesus proves He is alive
by showing his wounds,
and by eating a piece of
fish.

DOUBTING THOMAS

THE DISCIPLES FINALLY GO TO

The disciples go back to Galilee, probably
Capernaum.

Jesus appears on the beach. Tells them to fish
on the other side. Get 153 fish, with a perfect
net.
Jesus has breakfast ready for them. Still the
servant.
Jesus predicts the death of Peter

Appearance in Galilee Part 2: On

the Mountain
The disciples worshiped Him there but
some still doubted.
Jesus tells them He now has all authority
over everything in heaven and on earth.
He commands them to make disciples of
all the nations, and teach them
everything He taught them.
He promises to always be with them.

Jesus Appears to 500 others and

to James (I Corintians 15:6-7)
Paul cites this as
proof of Jesus
resurrection
James becomes the
leader in Jerusalem.
