Content: The MYP Foundations of Art is a studio-based course that allows students to solve real world
art problems in a variety of media. Critical and creative thinking skills will be integrated into all studio

Process Journal (These will be a folder that students will add to through the semester and keep in
class.)
Required Lab fee
There is a studio fee for all art classes. The studio fee for Foundations of Art is $5.00. The
studio fee is used to buy required supplies for students throughout the course. All checks can be
made out to Meade High School. Students will receive a receipt once the fee is paid. Any studio
fees that are not paid Thursday, Feb 18th: B Day / Friday, Feb.19: A Day will be turned in as
an obligation.

Assessments and Grading:
Formative and summative assessment strategies will monitor student mastery of MSDE Essential
Learner Outcomes for the Visual Arts. Students meet the lesson criteria and demonstrate knowledge of
skills and content as evidenced by completion of the following evaluation instruments. Teachers select,
create, and implement the evaluation instrument that is appropriate for the strategy taught such as:
Self-assessment, Peer Assessment, End of Unit Assessment, Teacher Assessment, Portfolio, MSDE
Tool Kit and the MYP Visual Arts Criteria:
