Primary Sources
"Capture of the Indian Fortress." The Library of Congress. N.p., n.d. Web. 15 Nov. 2015.
<http://www.loc.gov/item/89710793/>. This is a drawing of the Capture of the Indian
Fortress. This source helped me understand how the settlers and Indians fought each
other. Also I learned that the settlers were confident against the Indians and that taking a
fortress was probably not a challenge due to their advanced weaponry.

Gardner, Andrew G. "History.org: The Colonial Williamsburg Foundation's Official History and
Citizenship Website." The Indian War : The Colonial Williamsburg Official History &
Citizenship Site. The Colonial Williamsburg Foundation, n.d. Web. 1 Dec. 2015.
<http://www.history.org/Foundation/journal/Spring10/war.cfm>. This website offered me
primary sources, photographs and posters, that related to the Indian conflicts. I used the
poster depicting the Murder of Miss Jane McCrea since it helped me understand how the
settlers felt towards the Indians. The Indians in the poster were killing a young white
woman, which tells me the settlers were not pleased with the Indians.

Schnackenberg, Henry. "The National Archives Experience: DocsTeach." Painting Depicting

Indians and English Soldiers Meeting, Smoking Pipe, and Trading in Forest Scene.

%5D=revolution-and-the-new-nation>. This source shows a painting in which Indians
and the English are meeting, smoking pipe, and trading. The painting shows how the

Indians and English were originally allies and friendly toward each other. But it helps me
understand how quickly their intentions changed and the two people soon became
enemies.

Shindler, A. Zeno. "NebraskaStudies.Org." NebraskaStudies.Org. Smithsonian Institution, n.d.

Web. 1 Dec. 2015. <http://www.nebraskastudies.org/0500/frameset_reset.html?http%3A
%2F%2Fwww.nebraskastudies.org%2F0500%2Fstories%2F0503_0100.html>. This
source showed me a drawing of an Indian Battle, drawn by a tribe leader named Standing
Buffalo. This drawing helped me understand the kinds of weapons the Indians used and
how they were at a disadvantage against the white settlers.

"Western Indian Wars." The Price of Freedom: Printable Exhibition. Smithsonian National
Museum of American History, n.d. Web. 1 Dec. 2015.
<http://amhistory.si.edu/militaryhistory/printable/section.asp?id=6>. This source showed
me a map of Indian reservations in 1892. I used this to help me see how close the settlers
and Indians lived to each other, and how possible fights could break out between the two
sides.

%7CCV2643450122>. This source showed me an article with helpful information on
how gunpowder was created and how the Europeans benefited from that knowledge of
gunpowder. The Europeans will later use their knowledge of gunpowder to defeat the
Indians once they arrive in the New World.

Guilmartin, Jr, John F. "Military Technology." Britannica Academic. N.p., n.d. Web. 15 Nov.
2015. <http://academic.eb.com/EBchecked/topic/382397/militarytechnology/57613/Early-gunpowder>. This article helped me understand the timeline of
inventions that eventually led up to the use of guns today. The Europeans had many failed
attempts in making an effective weapon but finally, through many calculations, they
created the ancestors of the guns we use today.

"Gunpowder:a Circular Journey." Gunpowder:a Circular Journey. N.p., n.d. Web. 1 Dec. 2015.
<http://www.monkeytree.org/silkroad/gunpowder/index.html>. This source led me
through the journey of gunpowder evolution as it traveled throughout different
civilizations, including China and Europe. The article gave me more knowledge on how
gunpowder was created and used in China as well as how it spread to surrounding
empires.

%3d#AN=10439616&db=khh>. This article gives information and examples on how the
Indian tribes would fight each other. This helps me understand how the tribes fight and
that they were not very peaceful even before the settlers arrived on their land. This is
most likely due to their extreme differences in culture and religion.

"Native Americans and Europeans (Overview)." American History. ABC-CLIO, 2000. Web. 15
Nov. 2015. <http://americanhistory.abc-clio.com/Search/Results?q=1182483>. This
source gave me clear information of the Europeans and Indian conflicts once the settlers
reached the New World. The many conflicts were caused by the Europeans allying with a
certain tribe thus creating an enemy from other tribes. This article helped me understand
how the Indians thought and acted.

Silk Road. Digital image. Iran Review. Stratfor, 2012. Web. 23 Jan. 2016.
<http://www.iranreview.org/>. This digital image of the Silk Road trade route gave me an
understanding of how gunpowder was transported across the continent to Europe. I used
this image on one of my website pages to give a visual of the journey of gunpowder.
