Your Target
At the end of this activity, you will be able to identify the principles in teaching-leaning activities,
manuals and other instructional materials used by the teacher in selected subject.

Your Ways
Learning how to apply the teaching principles in a classroom setting is something you aspire for.
Initially, you would need to observe and describe how it is manifested in the real classroom.
To hit your target, work your way through these steps:
Step 4: Reflect on your experience.
Step 3: List down the instructional materials
used by the teacher to facilitate learning
Step 2: Observe, the cognitive, metacognitive and
motivational processes in the classroom.

Your Tools

Step 1: Observe at least three classes and describe the

principles of teaching and learning used by the teacher.

As you visit a school and observe classes, use the activity forms to document your observation and
write your insights or reflections.

Scribble a brief reflection of your feelings and insights from your

observation experience.
On my observation, I felt something different from my past. Because when I was a high
school student we are independent on our teacher. We do our part as a student to help our teacher.
But now a day, the students become sluggish. They didnt help their teacher to make their lesson
easier. I thought that they not serious on their studies. They more like to play than to study.
And also I observed the different strategies and approach the teachers are using to suit the
different needs of the students. And in my own opinion it helps the teacher to improve the quality of
the students learning. It helps her to deal with the students. Also providing the materials for the topic
will enhance the students knowledge and also it will make them interested on what she was
teaching.
But I also observed that the teacher dont have any motivation. Thats why the student didnt
participating on her class. And also I saw in her eyes that she cant do really dont know how to
handle or how to manage her class, some of the student was being wild, some of them was being
noisy, and some of them was sleeping. And sometimes they are weird. But on her teaching
strategies it is ok. She delivered the topic clearly, well and prepared. And also she did the part that
was given to her.

Your Target
At the end of this activity, the students will be able to identify and describe the teachers activity and
the behaviour of the learners in these activities.

Your Ways
After observing the principles of teaching and learning in the classroom setting, you will now start to
journey through the methods, strategies and approaches of teaching and learning by first observing actual
classroom teaching.
To hit your target, work your way through these steps:
Step 4: Reflect on your experience.
Step 3: Confer with the teacher regarding
observable and significant events.
Step 2: Record and highlight observable significant
event(s) in such teaching-learning activities and

Description of Teaching Strategies:

Based on what I observed, the commonly strategy used in classroom is
Deductive Method. Where the teacher is the one who motivated her students than
the students itself.

Description of Learning Activities:

Before the discussion, they recall their past topic. They conduct a
recitation during the class. And after the discussion, they have a maybe activities,
quiz, or groupings.

Description of Learners Participation (proportion of learners who participated and

quality participation)
Some of the students are much more willing to participate on their class
discussion and some of them are not. Many of the students are very talkative thats
why some of their classmates cant focus on their class discussion.

Based on what I observed, the commonly method used inside the classroom is
deductive Method where the teacher is the one whos moving inside the classroom. I
mean she is the one who make the discussion lively.

During the discussion, some of the students are willing to listen and participate
on the discussion. And some of them are not. Maybe because of the modern age, as
Grade 7 students, where they like to play more than to study. So that, I conclude that if
the teacher has any motivation, maybe she will get the attention of her students.
Because I observed that she doesnt have any motivation before, during or after the
discussion. Thats why the students became sluggish during her class.

After going through the process of observation, thinking and reflection of your experience, you
surely have drawn some insights and new understanding of teaching and learning processes. Please express
your thoughts, feelings, insights or new understanding through creative visual representation here. Then
share your reflection with your FS Teacher.

After my observation in Malinta National High School, particularly to Mrs. Cerino classes. I observe
that not all the time the students are willing to participate in the discussion; they are willing to talk to their
seatmates than to listen to their teacher.
On my observation, I understand that being a teacher is not easy, many tasks and responsibilities that
you must do in time.
