I am a motivated, reliable and creative journalism post graduate with a wide
range of multimedia skills and a passion for writing. I currently work as a Content
Editor at Axonn Media.
Key Skills
Writing & Researching- I have many articles published online for Screen
International and Broadcast magazine as well as experience writing content for
State.com, a global opinions network where I was one of the leading voices in the
fashion and arts domain. I have written regularly for an online website,
specialising in events. I currently work as a content editor which requires an
expert standard of researching, writing and subediting, exercised on a daily
basis.
Communication- Being Course Representative during my time at university,
meant I had to be interactive with other students, making suggestions for
change and raising issues with course leaders. During my work experience at
MBI, I communicated and worked with members of staff from across the
business. This required using my initiative and putting myself forward in order to
make the most of the experience. On my placement at PR firm Harvey & Hugo,
good communication skills were core to everything I did.
Adaptability- I am able to adapt to roles effectively so I am not limited in what I
do. I work well both within a team and independently. I have worked with
numerous forms of media including shooting a short film for my television
module, recording and interviewing author Jacqueline Wilson for an internet radio
station, using HTML to maintain my own online blog and working with computer
programs such as Final Cut Pro and InDesign, to create layouts and format pages
for my magazine module.
Education
BA (Hons) Journalism, Leeds Metropolitan University (2011-2014)
My degree allowed the study of a wide range of academic and multimedia
journalistic skills. The modules in my degree have allowed me to gather skills in
editing, compiling, presenting and production by giving me firsthand experience
in journalism. The course is accredited by the Broadcast Journalism Training
Council (BJTC) and the Periodical Councils Trust (PCT) and I graduated in July
2014 with a high 2:1 honours degree classification.
St Marys Sixth Form College, Middlesbrough (2009-2011)
3 A-Levels: Fine Art (A), English Literature (C), Law (C)
Newlands School FCJ, Middlesbrough (2004 2009)
8 GCSEs, including English (A), Mathematics (B), Art and Design (A), Additional
Science (B), French (B)
Digital Applications Level 2 Diploma (Distinction)
Current role

Axonn Media, Content Editor (Nov '15 - present)

Axonn Media is a digital marketing company which strives to make content
marketing simple for its clients. Here I work as a content editor which includes
working within a self-managed team to produce top quality content for a wide
range of clients across a number of industries. I write and subedit a variety of
content styles as well as liaising closely with account managers and clients on
content strategy and SEO.
Work Experience
Harvey & Hugo Ltd (Aug 15 Nov '15)
I completed a placement at Harvey & Hugo, a business which works to develop
PR and marketing strategies for its clients. Here I composed press releases,
managed social media and contributed content to the companys blog.
Peppermint Bars and Events, Writer (Jan 13- Nov '15)
Every month, I contributed a number of articles to an online website for an
events company based in London which caters to outdoor events and festivals.
My articles covered information on a range of issues surrounding events,
festivals and music.
State.com, Online Content Writer (April 13- June 14)
For over a year I wrote content daily for State.com, a global opinions network
website which has only very recently established itself. I worked within the
Fashion & Arts sector, which included finding the latest news stories in this area
and translating them into short and concise text.
Media Business Insight (Aug 13-Sept 13)
In 2013, I worked at MBI, a company which has industry magazines; Screen
International, shots and Broadcast. I was able to work on all three magazines and
was given the task of attending press conferences and other events such as
award evenings and launch nights. I also wrote a number of articles as well as
being given other office jobs.
Other Relevant Experiences and Voluntary Work
In January 2013, I worked voluntarily in a charity shop where twice a week I
would sort out donated items and help to sell them in the shop.
In 2008, I was part of a small media group where once a week, I would attend a
radio station that provided facilities to work on a radio program broadcast online.
Here, I interviewed childrens author, Jacqueline Wilson and local X Factor
contestants, Journey South and was awarded a podcast studio as a prize for my
efforts.
Interests
I enjoy writing creatively, reading magazines and keeping up with current affairs
by reading newspapers and online news websites. In my spare time I like to
watch documentaries on subjects I know little about as I find it a great way to
further my knowledge and inform myself.
