Textile Project Outline

Project Goal
To create a piece of fabric with an interweaving pattern.

Outline of Process Steps

1. Choose a fabric to create the pattern on.
2. Design the pattern you will transfer onto the fabric. The design must be of sufficient
complexity and detailed. Pattern will be designed utilizing ink and pen.
3. Copy the design using tracing paper, and transfer it to a thick card stock. Be sure to transfer
it multiple times to produce an even pattern that can be aligned to produce more of the
same pattern. I would recommend a 2 x 6 grid of the same design interweaving.
4. Cut out the design.
5. Use fabric dyes with a sponge to create the pattern on the fabric of your choosing. Use the
pattern template you created as a screen in order to transfer the pattern successfully.
6. Let the ink dry properly.
7. Once dry, arrange your fabric into a composition.
8. Take a photo showing foreshortening as the pattern recedes into the distance.

Further Information
The due date for this project is Friday, December 11, 2015.
The textile pattern must be approved before you can begin Step 3 of the process.
The textile must be completed by Thursday, December 10, 2015 in order to allow the fabric
enough drying time before the image is taken on Friday.
