PREFACE

While preparing this first edition of the Oil & Gas Piping Manual, I planned to
organise the contents to try to present the manual in a format that will appeal to the
needs of the present and future users of the manual.
This book is divided into four main parts:
1. Pages A1 to A14 deals with some fundamental introductions to Offshore Oil and
Gas Production, Piping Design and Piping Layout, Pipe Supporting, and Piping
Stress;
2. Pages 1 to 231 covers the main bulk of the piping manual containing technical
data, various tables, many examples of practical ways to present and prepare
documentation of piping in industrial applications and a vast amount of reference
material all to be used more or less depending on the need, piping knowledge
and requirements of the user.
3. Pages AB1 to AB3 provides a list of the abbreviations used in this manual.
4. Pages I-1 to I-26 is an index covering the major contents of the Oil & Gas Piping
Manual.
I feel privileged and humbled in offering my thanks to my wife, Matilde; daughter,
Sarah; and my son Douglas for their continuous support for letting me devote so
much of their share of my life to preparing this manual.
