The Role of Distance Education

Technology in the classroom have truly come a long way. It has grown above and
beyond my expectation. I chose to summarize The Role of Distance Education as a major point
because distance education is very effective. Distance education is increasingly and growing into
a very important role in technology. Instructions conducted through the use of technologies
which significantly or completely eliminate the traditional face to face communication between
teacher and students lead to distance education Muhammad & Uzma, 2012). Attending Ashford
University which is an online university has been a great experience for me. Knowing that
Ashford University is an online school its not the traditional way. Some people may need the
face to face interaction, the structure of attending class, and the social and physical development
that the traditional schools have to offer. Being able to obtain a degree while working and being
a full time mother has worked in my best interest. Having access to the library, professors, meet
new students from all over the world has been very effective for me. Even through this is not the
tradition way its the best way for me. I reed in this one article that distance education is aimed
towards students that are older, working, and remotely learners. My thoughts on that is if that is
true whats so wrong about that? One of my classmates made a good point, she said in her
younger years she doesnt know if she would have enjoyed distance learning or even being
successful. In my opinion whether its distance learning or a traditional classroom settings do
know that education is important. Through educational technology it has enhanced education on
so many levels.
