SPRING 2016 SYLLABUS

STEM DESIGN & GAMING is an extension of the Design and Art 1 classes. Students will be

building on the skills learned in these classes to take innovation to the next level. They will further
develop 21st century skills and explore visual communication through gaming and design.
Collaboration, creative, and critical thinking will be essential components to the class throughout the
semester. Students will explore and analyze the gaming industry, expand their knowledge of aspects
of gaming design, and use the design cycle to create 2D and 3D games.

TECHNOLOGY
Students are expected to bring their device to class daily. There will be MacBook Airs available for
checkout during class for students who have an iPad because some of the programs used in class are
not supported by this technology. Students must sign a waiver and sign out these devices daily. All
technology belongs to the school and should be used for school purposes only. If students abuse any
device they may not be able to use it in class. CCHS is a part of the Bring Your Own Technology
initiative. Students will be allowed to use their personal device in class when permitted by the
teacher.

OUR CLASS ONLINE

We will be using OneNote and OneDrive daily in class. This will be where you receive information
about assignments, projects, discussions, etc. Many assignments will be stored in folders on Office

365 for turn-in, collaboration, and design purposes. Also please utilize the Class Webpage for
calendar info, due dates, and important announcements.

COPYRIGHT
Unless otherwise stated through project requirements, students should only turn in work that has
been created by them. Students are expected to follow the Cabarrus County & STEM Academic
Integrity Policy.
