ThisquestionhasbeenAnswered.
DearExperts
IhavetwoalternateBOMforonevehicle,alternateBOM1andalternateBOM2.Whenicreate
productionorderforthatvehicleittakethealteranteBOM1bydefault,butiwanttocreatethis
productionorderwithalternateBOM2.Pleaseguidehowitispossible.

PleasepostyourrequirementinProductionPlanningDiscussionforum.AstheissueisrelatedtoPP.
AftermaintainingthealternativeBOMinproductionversion,

Option1:youcancallthisversionntheorderwithlotsizerangesifyouwant.ExamplePV1iflotsize
betweenrange1to1000andPV2betweenrange1001to2000etc.Thisisoneoption.

Option2:IfyoudonotmaintainlotsizerangesthenbydefaultthePV1getscopiedintotheorder.After
thatyougotoFunctions>ReadPPMasterdataandchangetheproductionversion.

AlsomaintainProductionversionselectioninOPL8andmaterialmaster

TheremustbesomedefiningParameterforseletingbetweentwoAlternativeBOMs.ItmaybeLotsize
orvalidityetc.

YoucandefineyourLotsizeintheBOMHeaderforthesealternativeBOMsastowhichBOMshould
getpickedupduringMRP.

IfyouaretryingforProductionOrder,itwillbegoodifyoumaintainProductionVersionforthesetwo
alternativeBOMs:
1.PV0001forAlternative1
2.PV0002forAlternative2

MaintainthesePVinMaterialMasterMRP4vieworuseC223.

MaintaininOPL8(planningtab)eitherasManualSelectionofProductionversionorAutomatic
selectionofProductionversion.ForAutomaticSelectionofProductionversionbythesystem,you
mustproperlydefinethevaliditydateoftheProductionversionsandtheLotsizeelsethesystemwill
alwayspickupthefirstone.

ManualSelectionwillgiveyouoptiontoselecttheproductionversioninProductionOrder

1.IncaseifboththealternativeBOMisvalidforthesamevaliditydateandlotsize,thenalwaysthe

systemwillpickthefirstalternativeBOM,ifboththealternativeBOM'sstatusiskeptas01active

duringmanualproductionordercreation.

2.Nowincaseifyouwantthesecondalternativetobepickedduringproductionordercreation,then

youcansetthestatusofthefirstalternativeBOMas2intheBOMheaderofthefirstalternative

BOM.

Withmaintainingtheproductionversion

1.SettheBOMselectionmethodas2intheMRP4viewofthematerialmaster.

2.Nowcreate2differentproductionversionsbyassigningthefirstalternativeBOMtothe

firstversionandthesecondalternativeBOMtothesecondproductionversionforthesame

validitydate/Lotsize.

3.EnsureinOPL8fortheordertypeandplantcombinationtheproductionversionselection

iskeptasmanual.

4.Nowcreateproductionorderandchecktheimpact.

versiontoselectthealterantiveBOM,youcancarryfollowingsteps:

1)CreatetheAlternativeRoutingw.r.toAlternativeBOM2
2)DotheconfigurationsettingsinOPL8forroutingslectioninPlanningTab,asgivenbelowscreen:

3)Whenyouareconvertingfromplannedorder,creatingtheproductionordermanuallythesystem
willaskyoutoselecttheRoutingGroupnumber/groupcounternumber,
4)SelecttheappropriateRoutinggroup/groupcounterandgoaheadforotherproductionorder
detailsandsavethescreen.

IthinktheabovegivenprocedurewillgiveyouthefacilitytoselectthealtaernativeBOM2foryour
Vehicalproduction.
