ABOUT THE AWARENESS ACTIVITY AND SURVEY

This activity consisted of a small interactive session with people who

participated in the survey conducted by Yashika Mehta, the photographer
and video-editor of our group.
To get to know about the different views of people regarding
friendship, we created a form which consisted of some objective as well
as subjective type of questions.
Besides asking these questions, we told the importance of friends to each
and every person who participated in the survey.
Overall, this survey and awareness activity was successful.

This informative survey on friendship was for children, teachers as

well as parents. People participated very actively in it.
They were given an opportunity to express their views by filling the
form.
People got to know the importance of friends and how an ideal
friendship can be maintained.

OUTCOMES OF THE SURVEY

How do you make friends?

How do you make friends was our first question. There were three options as
the answer for this question
1) By talking to them on mobile phone,
2) By interacting with them face to face and
3) By spending time with them.
Most of the people said that they would make friends by spending time with
them and with this, we conclude that one of the most essential factors to make
friends is to spend time with them and get to know each other. But remember,
making friends is a very easy task if we make friends judiciously.

What will you consider first Friends or studies/career?

Our next question to people was if they would consider friends or
studies/career first. We also gave them an option of considering both of them
together. Most of the people said they would consider friends and
studies/career together. This gave us a conclusion that we need to maintain a
balance between studies/career and friends. We cant hurt the feelings of
friends by only studying or focussing on our career. Also, we cant sacrifice our
studies/career by spending much of our time with friends. That is why we have
to consider both of them together.

Do you like to enjoy with family more or friends?

Do you like to enjoy with family more or friends? was our next question.
This was very interesting question for people because at that time, they
had to do a comparison between the fun time with friends and family. We
were amazed to know that people enjoy with their families more than
friends. The conclusion drawn by this question was that people give more
importance to family then friends, although there was just a little bit
difference between the number of people voting for family and the number
of people voting for friends.

Do you think that its appropriate to have more than one best
friend? was the sixth question of survey. Eleven out of sixteen
people think that its appropriate to have more than one best
friend. The people who voted for no told that there are many
negative effects of having more than one best friend like
jealousy can occur between them etc. We now conclude that if
we make more than one best friend, we have to see that
jealousy doesnt not occur. If there is no jealousy, then having
more than one best friend would be beneficial.

In olden times

We now conclude that friendship was better at the time when our parents were a kid, due
to the honesty of people and it could be better nowadays if we focus more on friends in real
life than online friends & be honest, loyal and kind while dealing with friends. Here are
some views of people who took part in the survey
Friendship was better at the time when our parents were a kid because today, children just
want to make friends. They dont realize their importance. Earlier, people considered
friendship as a long, silk thread that could be never broken. Yashika Mehta, student, BBPS
GRH Marg
I think friendship was better at the time when our parents were a kid because today, due to
the developing digital world, face to face contact is limited and chatting has taken over. This
limits the bond of friendship. Mrinal Anand, student, BBPS GRH Marg
Friendship was better in olden times as friends were very sincere and honest. - Mrs. Shashi

Views of some people regarding the question

Friendship day should be celebrated but products like bands and gifts shouldnt be used.
Raghav Karan, student, BBPS GRH Marg
Friendship day should celebrated because I think that it re-establishes the faith one has in
friendship and its a good feeling to nurture. Ms. Shubhi Juneja, teacher, BBPS GRH Marg

We should not celebrate friendship day because tying friendship bands doesnt increase or
decrease friendship. Everyday should be friendship day. Piyush Sharma, student, BBPS GRH
Marg
Friendship is not a relationship that should be shown by celebrating friendship day. Friendship
can be shown by helping others when in need. Therefore, friendship day shouldnt be
celebrated. Kanika Aggarwal, student, BBPS GRH Marg

We conclude that friendship day should be celebrated everyday as it is a very pure and
amazing relationship. Friendship shouldnt be shown off by exchanging gifts and bands but by
having faith in friends from the bottom of our heart.

Will you like to give any message to the world about

friendship?
We must say that this question was the most interesting of all. We got to know so many
messages about friendship that people wanted to convey to people around the globe. Some of
them are
I think that friendship is needed to maintain peace and unity between all, so we should try to
make friends who are loyal, honest and kind. But we should give more importance to our
families because we can trust our family from the bottom of our heart but not friends.
Mr. Anil Mehta, Chartered Accountant, ICAI.
I would like to say that friendship is a bond that cant be broken. We are all connected by it
and it helps maintaining peace in the whole world. Friends are for life and we should be
thankful to God for providing us with this boon of friendship.
