Problem 1: The Missing Mascot
I concluded that Benitez took the mascot, a stuffed ostrich, from Franklin High. I found this out
by using process of elimination. I read over all the suspected students statement both Adams
and Clark report that Benitez had been seen at the school. If two out of the three suspects
stories check out. Then you know the suspect whose story doesnt match must be lying. Clark
stated, I saw . Benitez near Franklin that day, this show Benitez could have taken the
mascot. Furthermore, Adams said, Benitez was hanging out near Franklin that day, again
Benitez was seen by Franklin. This proves he had to have taken the mascot.
Problem 3: The Turner Triplets
I deducted that Werner was lying. I figured this out by again using process of elimination. Virna
says, I am not the oldest. Werner reports, Virna was born first. Myrna states, Werner is the
oldest. Werner is lying because he says, Virna was born first, but Virna says shes not the
oldest and Myrna says Werner is oldest. Virnas and Myrnas contradict his statement. Thus
proving he is lying because if two out of the three triplets stories check out. Then you know the
triplet whose story doesnt match must be lying.
