GERUND or TO + INFINITIVE

GERUND
Use:
* after prepositions
* alter certain verbs: like, love, hate,
enjoy, mind, finish, stop, cant stand,
avoid, give up, dont mind, suggest,
fancy, deny, delay, keep on, seem, miss,
carry on
* as the subject of a sentence
* the negative form is not + -ing

TO + INFINITIVE
Use:
* after adjectives
* after certain verbs: would like, want,
need, decide, hope, expect, plan, forget,
seem, try, promise, offer, refuse, learn,
manage, help, appear, agree, put off,
arrange, choose
* to express purpose / reason
* the negative form is not + to+ infinitive
