1. Number Sense,
Properties, and
Operations

Students will
explore surveys,
tally charts, bar
graphs and
pictographs through
examining student
interests.
Students will be
assigned homework
to watch a video
about exploring and
communicating
patterns. In class,
they will survey
their classmates
and model any
patterns they may
find. This
information will be
need to be included
in their reflection on
their ePortfolio

2. Patterns, Functions,
and Algebraic
Structures

3. Analysis, Statistics,
and Probability

Teacher models
how to enter data
online to create
graphs and how
to post them on
an ePortfolio
website

Students will
generate, create and
analyze graphs using
online tools such as
an iPad app or Exel.
They will post their
graphs on their
ePortfolio

Students will choose a

question to survey their
classmates about- then
post their findings
with a graph and
reflection on their
ePortfolio

Relationships
Reading, Writing, and Communicating

1. Oral Expression
and Listening

Students pick one

of their favorite
speeches to share
with the class and
write a reflection on
their ePortfolio
about what that
speech means to
them
Students are able to
choose a book to read
and then write a review
on their ePortfolio for
their classmates to view
and to be used as an
assessment tool for
their teacher

2. Reading for All

3. Writing and
Composition

The teacher
models how to
upload work onto
an ePortfolio
and shows how
their portfolio has
grown and
changed over
time
Same idea as

classmates to
generate, create and
analyze graphs using
online tools. The
students will post
their findings in graph
form and as a written
reflection of the
process/results on
their ePortfolio.

1. History

Students will look at

primary sources
(sound files, sheet
music,
photographs, letters
and maps) online to
s better understand
the American Civil
War. They will then
write a letter
pretending to be
someone from that
time period and

upload it to their
ePortfolio.

2. Geography

4. Civics

Students will try out

these wordfinds,
mazes and map

They will make a
podcast about what
they learned while
playing the game and
post it on their
ePortfolio.

Science
As homework,
students will watch
a video that
describe Newton's
three laws of
motion. In class,
they will test
Newton's three laws
of motion in a game
of marbles. On their
ePortfolio,
teachers will have
students write a
paragraph about
each of the three
laws describing
examples of each
law that occurred
during their marble
games.

increasing students'
digital literacy by
fostering a

Other
Reflection: I think an ePortfolio can be a great tool for elementary students. I like how it can be used as a working portfolio, which
contains projects the student has recently completed or used as a display portfolio, which showcases samples of the student's
best work. As a teacher, I think I would use the working portfolio for younger grades and as the students get older I would help
them choose pieces to build their display portfolio. I like how teachers can use ePortfolios to assess their students work, but that
it also allows students to be organized and keep their work in one place. It can also be a good tool for children to show their
parents what they have been learning and working on in class.
