Resistance: A Warning (Social Media Post)

Resistance. What causes it? What can justify it? What defines a rebel? Google
defines a rebel as a person who rises in opposition or armed resistance against an
established government or ruler. Things like this are not as black and white as we
perceive them to be. Corruption and injustice thrive in America and throughout the
globe. But people within communities will generally turn a blind eye to police brutality,
police shootings, federal and local agencies mistreating groups of people. Eventually
the mistreatment will be tolerated until its taken too far or when these damaged
individuals decide that change needs to happen in order for everyone else to move
forward.
A rebel isnt a terrorist. A rebel does not hate freedom or wish to kill people
aimlessly. They are not bloodthirsty maniacs from hell and they're purpose is anything
but committing mass murder. These individuals who resist these injustices are merely
fighting for what they know is right. They can breath, feel, smell.and feel emotions
because they are humans. Humans who were pushed to the point where the thought of
change came across their mind, to call attention to unfairness. A resistance fighter is a
human being who was pushed to the point of taking up arms in order fight back. Before
the rebels emerge, they protest peacefully, nonviolently fighting back, until they are
pushed and mistreated. Thus a rebel is born.
On February 27th, 1973: two hundred and fifty Sioux citizens who were led by
members of the American Indian Movement moved towards the Pine Ridge
Reservation, initiating the seventy one day occupation of Wounded Knee. This
occupation called attention towards unsafe living conditions and generations of
mistreatment from federal agencies. This same place is where the Wounded Knee
massacre occurred. Which happened on December 29th, 1890. Sioux tribal elders
complained about mistreatment from federal and local agencies which led them to call
for help from AIM and so it begun. The corrupt chairman, Dick Wilson called in FBI
agents and U.S Marshals who set up a perimeter around AIMs defense line in
Wounded Knee. Natives who participated in the occupation of Wounded Knee were
willing to put their lives on the line for a cause they believed in. Both sides of the
conflict were heavily armed and plenty of firefights broke out which left two Sioux men
dead. Most of the AIM members at Wounded Knee were very young, being in their
early 20s and they were ready to stand against corruption and had all agreed that death
was a price they were willing to pay. They may have been labeled as a terrorist group
at one point, but their radical acts are in good reason. They were pushed to that point
to be heavily armed and ready to fight and die. Generations, years, or months; it
doesn't matter how long people wish to overlook the injustice brought upon their fellow
people. Resistance will eventually come one way or another.

From the topplings of Gaddafi, Saddam Hussein, or the fictional tale of the Rebel
Alliances triumph over the the Galactic Empire; the people who fought back were
pushed to a point in which they had to resort to violence. Gaddafi and Hussein were
utterly cruel to the citizens who were supposed to follow them. The Empire treated its
citizens in awful ways as well. All three had some sort of injustice in some way or form.
Dont allow history to repeat itself with injustice! You dont need to harm anyone just to
make a point. Be civil! Dont let it get to the point of armed rebellion! Yes if we have
eyes, hands and legs; we are dangerous because we could fight, but that isnt the
solution. Everyone has a voice and its their right to speak out against oppression and
injustice. Use them, and prevent a catastrophe before it even begins!
