From the Principals Pen:

I hope you will all join me in wishing our school a

happy 14th birthday, which we celebrated on 10 February! We are now on the path to adulthood. It is
OUR school, together as guardians of the values
we uphold.
In spite of the persistent and extremely hot weather,
we managed to get through the annual schools Athletics meeting without any drama: that is apart from
the branch that fell onto the electricity cables on the
road to the school and gave us a fireworks display
which we did not have to pay for! It left me rather
hoarse, as my announcer duties had now to be done without the help of a
microphone. Our congratulations must go to the Stallions who beat the
Humpback Whales by 660 points to 647, and to Jacques and Odette Theron
who were the boy and girl with the most points scored respectively. I would
like to thank especially: teachers Lianda and Ezanda for their help in the
planning of the event; all the other teachers for their assistance on the day;
the parents who helped with timekeeping and judging and setting up and
those who came to support; Uncle Manfred for marking the field; all the athletes who took part; Beverley, Dannie, Jenny and family and friends for doing
the refreshments and Sandra for running the tuckshop; and to SEEF for the
gazebos, and Dominos Pizza for their support.
We will shortly be announcing the team to take part in the WPCSSA Regional Athletics meeting on Friday, 26 February at the Tygerberg Athletics Club,
Jan Burger Sports Park, De Grendel Road, Parow North, from 07h30
15h00. Parents will be asked to help with transport to and from the stadium.
The cost per athlete will be R80 each, payable in advance by the respective
parents.
Please remember to make use of our website for updates on the homework
schedule and projects/ assignments deadlines and test dates.
I hope you all have a special Valentines Day!
Regards,
Spencer King

SCHOOL UNIFORMPre-Schoolers
The educators will inform the parents of the days the following must be worn:

Once a week the SSC T-Shirt / SSC Tracksuit will be worn. (Wednesdays)
Once a week the SSC Sport shirt will be worn. (Thursdays)
Children will require a SSC T-Shirt with blue shorts when on an outing or in winter a SSC
tracksuit with comfortable shoes (takkies).
Shoes and pants can become very wet and muddy, most of the soles cannot bend which
makes it impossible for kiddies to play or run comfortably.
Our carpets also take a beating with the mud, so please supply the class with a pair of comfy
slippers for inside and a pair of blue boots (CLEARLY marked ) for outside play.
Clothes
Parents are encouraged to dress their children in older more comfortable clothes that are able
to handle wear and tear.
Heroes
Please refrain from dressing boys in their favourite super-hero outfits.
Kiddies tend to become their
hero and portray the part.
We have a very strong policy
on aggression and we would
like to avoid these situations.
(Nemo and Shrek work for us)
No play guns allowed!

ATHLETICS RESULTS:

The Green Team (Stallions)
Congratulations to Jacques Theron for the victor ludorum
and Odette Theron for the victrix ludorum
ATHLETICS REPORT BY ILLONA NEL
GRADE 1 PARENT:

By 7 am the buzz was alive and the first race, the 3000 metres, was already on
the way. The sun soon sent everyone gathering under the shade.
Although there was a limited number of parents, the little ones drew an encouraging crowd at around 10am.
An unfortunate power outage at about 11am halted all announcements, which
meant that Mr Kings commanding voice was heard booming around the field to
call the students to their events.
The biggest hit of the day was probably the Juice Caboose with most of the
kids, and even some of the parents, walking around sucking on refreshing icelollies.
In all it was a wonderfully fun day. However, by the
end of it everyone seemed to be ready for the weekend! Many thanks to the teachers and parents for
their hard work on making this possible.
