May 22", 2014 Dr. Mary Glowacki State Archaeologist and Chief Bureau of Archaeological Research Division of Historical Resources Florida Department of State Thank you for the opportunity to be able to work the Melbourne Beach area. We have followed your instructions for the breakdown of what we have temporarily named the MB-514 (formerly the southernmost area of E-155) area. We have divided it up into 3 separate areas; MB-514A1 and MB-514A2 being 3 square miles or less and MB- 514A3 being 2.4 square miles (see attached map). This entire area is the area HTQ already assigned to us and also documented to the FBAR. With each area we are providing a separate dig and identify application with individual research design reports. In each area we have indicated which anomalies we will test first and have the highest level of interest to us. We would like to start in MB-514A2 because several of the past artifacts which have been found were found in this area. By investigating this area thoroughly as described in our research design report, we will be able to determine which area to move into next as we currently have only one primary work boat and crew to do all of the work. Once investigative work has been completed on area MB-514A2, it should dictate to us to either move north to MB-514A3 or south to MB-514A1. When we move to that area, we will follow the corresponding research design. Once that area is investigated thoroughly, we will move to the final area. This will take a long time and weather can make a big difference. We intend to work all year, but many say this is wishful thinking. We will try anyway. If these thoughts and strategies sound off in any way, please let us know and we will amend them accordingly. Sincerely, Kyle Kennedy CEO Seafarer Exploration Corp. Coverage ofthe survey area, i.e. MB 514-A2, was monitored using the Geometric MagLog NT® software application. This software receives geographic positional information from a high accuracy state-of-the-art Furuno DGPS receiver cycling | time per second and then correlates each magnetic point recorded by the magnetometer to produce a 3D plot forall recorded points. The sofiware renders this data visually on a display with a continuous track line and user-created reference marks. The display was continuously monitored by the pilot of the survey vessel to ensure steady and accurate navigation. All positional information, including delineation of target zones and individual targets were corroborated using redundant GPS receivers, Maptech® Navigation software, and paper charts. James J Sinclair, MA Project Archaeologist Seafarers Exploration Corp, Remote Sensing SURVEY OF MB 514-A2_ The area surveyed was Block 1 which begins at the southernmost point of E-155 and. runs north for 3 miles and extends out to sea for approximately 2 miles, Survey line spacing was set to 20 Meters wide and ran parallel to the shore-line for the length of Blockl. The equipment used in this survey consisted of a Geometries 882 Cesium Vapor ‘Maghetometer, an Imagenex Sport Scan Side Scan Sonar and a Syqwest Strata Box Sub- Bottom Profiler. ‘The remote sensing survey in Block I produced over 1000 magnetic and acoustic anomalies. To better understand the potential of any significant cultural re-sources or shipwreck debris in this area this priority list was compiled to try and facilitate the identification of these anomalies. Although not every anomaly can be visually idemtified the identification of the selected anomalies should give a better understanding of the potential for shipwreck debris. ‘The anomalies chosen for identification were picked because of their magnetic signatures which are conducive of shipwreck debris. Not every anomaly that may represent shipwreck assemblage could be chosen but a broad enough range of anomalies were picked to conclude whether or not further study should be conducted, or if the patterns reflected in the survey warranted a full-scale recovery. Many of the larger anomalies chosen give a classic signature of 18th-century cannon scatter while the small anomalies appear to be assemblage such as ballast stones, spikes, cannonballs and iron pins. Although many of these anomalies appear to be shipwreck related the identification can only be established and confirmed until visual inspection is conducted. The majority of acoustic anomalies were not chosen for visual identification because most represent the signature of modem debris. ‘The boundaries and anomalies of principal interest are as follows: MBS514 AZ MB 514 A2 Starting at a point of beginning at N28 03 450 and W80 33 050 run Northwesterly to a point at N28 04 400 and W 80 33, 430 from thence proceed Easterly to a point at N28 04 400 and West ‘80 31.424, from there proceed southerly to a point at N28 03 450 and W80 31 090 from there proceed Westerly back to a point of beginning, “Area 2 ‘oh | Nes /MB514-A2 — \sosen a a on A deh ze90 Anomalies located in MB $14 -A2 Anomalies recorded by the magnetometer appear in the following table.
