I work in a hospital, it is called the Taiwan Adventist Hospital; it is a big combined
hospital which is located in the capital city of Taipei and provides all kinds of
services to residents 24 hours a day. Taiwan Adventist Hospital is run by an
American church. There are two purposes why they built this hospital in our
country; one is to improve peoples health; the other thing is to do missionary work.
In addition, it has been voted as one of the most popular hospitals in the Hospital
Management magazine for the past 2 years; this is a good hospital for everyone
who has the need to go here. I love this hospital!
The hospital is near my house; I usually take the bus to go the hospital every
morning. This hospital is located in the center of the city. People like it a lot. It
doesnt look like a hospital; maybe you can say it is like a hotel! The chief of our
hospital wants patients staying here to feel like they are living in their homes.
Outdoors they designed a beautiful garden and exercise park; everyone can go to
there to relax themselves.
Our hospital is made up of 3 buildings. It is bright yellow, it makes it especially eye
catching. The first and second floors are clinics. In the basement there is the
restaurant; you can eat a very delicious vegetarian diet in our hospital. The top
floor has many offices for all administrators. In addition, the hospital has 22
departments, 360 ward beds, 756 staff members, and about 30 volunteers. They
are assigned to every department. If you have any questions, they can help you as
soon as possible. All the workers are very kind to help patients and families,
including doctors, nurses, and administrators. They do their best in their jobs every
day. They take care of patients health and teach them important things about their
problems. Sometimes they use the Bible and hymns to relieve patients pain. We
let them know they are not lonely. The co-workers will keep to help them until they
recover.
This is the best hospital that I have ever been a part of. There are so many
advantages in this hospital; they treat patients' diseases and take care of their
mental problems. Here we are like a big family; all the members are like brothers
and sisters; they always help each other. Im very glad I work in this good
environment. After I finish studying in U.S., I hope I can come back to our hospital
and devote my knowledge to all of the patients.

It starts with tea: A day in the life of Queen Elizabeth II
Queen Elizabeth II (Elizabeth Alexandra Mary) was born on April 21st 1926 and she is the
Queen of 16 of the 53 member states in the Commonwealth of Nations. She is Head of the
Commonwealth and Supreme Governor of the Church of England. In February 6th 1952,
Elizabeth became Head of the Commonwealth and queen regnant of seven independent
Commonwealth countries: the United Kingdom, Canada, Australia, New Zealand, South
Africa, Pakistan and Ceylon.
Since then, she lives in the Buckingham Palace. Her routine can be different every day.
During a regular day at Buckingham Palace, her official London residence, Queen
Elizabeth wakes up at 7.30am by a chambermaid who brings in her a tea tray, with milk.
She listens to BBC Radio Four as she likes to listen to the influential Today programme. At
9.30am, she meets her private secretary, Robin Janvrin, who has already read the days
correspondence. Occasionally, she invites a handful of famous faces, artists or business
executives to lunch. Sometimes, other royals are invited to join her at the palace. However,
she frequently eats a light lunch alone. Every afternoon at 2:30pm, the queen goes for a
walk in the palace grounds.
Every Tuesday at 6: 30pm, she gives an audience to the British prime minister to discuss
affairs of state. At 7:30pm, Philip, her husband, returns to Buckingham Palace. The royal
couple enjoy a drink together in their apartments. She fills in a crossword, often watches
television with supper on a tray, and retires to bed at around 11pm.
Anne Frank was a young Jewish German girl who gained international fame after her
death following the publication of her diary. She wrote about her life, thoughts and
experiences of hiding from the Nazis in World War II. Anne Frank was born in 1929 in
Germany. She moved to Amsterdam with her family after Adolf Hitler came to power in
1933. She attended a Montessori school and was a very energetic and outgoing girl. In
June 1942, Anne received a notebook for her thirteenth birthday. She decided to use it as
a diary, here are some notes about her daily routine:
Usually, some people get up around 6:45 AM, followed by the others. Between 8:30 and
9:00 AM the people in hiding must not make a single sound, because then the
warehousemen start arriving. The office employees, the helpers, are still not in at this hour.
Their workday begins at 9:00 AM. That is when the people in hiding go upstairs to eat
breakfast Around 12:30 PM the warehousemen go home and the people in hiding can
breathe a momentary sigh of relief. The midday meal is prepared and at 1:00 PM the
people in hiding listen to the BBC news from London. At 1:15 lunch is ready. Bep Voskuijl
often eats with them. Once in a while, Miep Gies also comes during lunch. Everybody
returns to work at 1:45 PM. The dishes are washed and then it is time for an afternoon
nap. Anne doesnt sleep, instead she uses this time to write in her diary At 5:30 PM,
nightly freedom - as Anne calls this in her diary . The other employees of Opekta have
gone home by then. Bep asks if there are any other groceries needed and then comes
home by herself at 5:45. The people sit in the office space downstairs, until Auguste van
Pels and Edith Frank announce that dinner is served. At around 9:00 PM, the beds are
ready for that night. After 10:00 PM, it is peaceful in the Secret Annex, but the people in
hiding often have trouble falling asleep. Especially when there are shots being fired at
Allied airplanes
