KNIFE killer Tracie Andrews has days out of jail to visit a centre that offers ANGER
MANAGEMENT classes. The evil blonde is on the Together Women Programme, which
prepares female cons for full-time release. Andrews, 41, has served 13 years of a life
sentence for stabbing her fianc Lee Harvey 42 times in Worcestershire in December
1996. She takes a 42-minute bus journey to the day centre in Leeds, which says its
aim is to tackle triggers of offending behaviour. Between classes, she nips out for a
smoke. The Sun revealed that Andrews recently spent a day shopping while on
weekend release from Askham Grange open nick, Yorks. She is due for full release
next year. As well as anger management, the centre offers classes in healthy lifestyles
and self esteem. It says it helps criminals explore issues. Hairdresser Andrews
cooked up a story that Lee, 25, was knifed by a maniac in a road rage attack. His
parents Maureen, 64, and Bill, 66, have told of their outrage at her pending release.
Maureen fumed: If I ever get the chance, Ill throttle the woman
2. DEFENCE bosses have drawn up shock plans to downsize the Royal Navys
battleship fleet by HALF, The Sun can reveal. In a cuts blueprint seen by us, the
vessels will be slashed to just 12 frigates and destroyers. It will make our surface
armada, once feared the world over, smaller than that of every other major European
nation except Portugal. And 7,500 sailors will be laid off, more than a fifth of the
Senior Services manpower of 35,760. The plan would leave the service which won
Trafalgar, Jutland and the Falklands unrecognisable. Last night the closest living
relative of the Navys greatest hero, Admiral Lord Nelson, said the plan would have left
him horrified.
And a naval source said: It wont just be a disaster we are heading for a national
humiliation. The drastic cuts are being considered because the Treasury has ordered
the MoD budget to be slashed by 19 per cent.Losing 12 frigates and destroyers is the
price the Navy will have to pay to keep two new 60,000-ton aircraft carriers. The troop
landing ships Albion and Bulwark, which came into service only seven years ago, will
also be sold off. The Navy currently has 24 battleships four Type 22 and 13 Type 23
frigates, five Type 42 and two Type 45 destroyers. At the time of the Falklands War in
1982 we boasted 53 frigates and 13 destroyers
Cutting the fleet in half again would make ours smaller than those of historical foes
France, Germany, Spain and Italy. Even skint Greece boasts more ships and only
Portugal with a population a sixth of Britains has the same number.
3. CHELSEA have been warned Carlos Tevez is coming to get them again. Shaun
Wright-Phillips says his Manchester City pal can shoot down the Premier League
leaders tomorrow. City did the double over the champs last season, with their
Argentine hero scoring three times. Now Wright-Phillips believes Tevez relishes the
responsibility of being captain and is ready for a repeat.

Chelsea old boy SWP said: Last season Carlos gave them a really tough time. And
hes going to do that again, definitely. Hes really settled in at this club now. Carlos
and all of us are going to be trying to do the same to them this time. The lads are
really enjoying having him as captain and hes enjoying it. Hes quite different and
quite funny.
But the main thing is he really looks out for the lads. If we need things doing he gets
it sorted and thats a positive thing.
4. ALEX FERGUSON has finally broken his silence over Wayne Rooneys
personal problems. The Manchester United and England striker is battling to
save his marriage to wife Coleen after a front-page story that he bedded a
prostitute.
The stress and attention on his private life appears to have got to the ace, who
has just one goal from the penalty spot for United this season and that was
back in August. Yet gaffer Ferguson insists the personal torment being suffered
by Rooney, 24, has not affected his confidence.
Rooney was rested for Wednesdays 5-2 Carling Cup win at Scunthorpe so is
likely to feature in the league trip to Bolton on Sunday. Fergie said: I dont
believe Wayne has a confidence problem. The boy is finally starting to realise
what kind of focus is on him as a human being. The boy cant turn without a
camera being on him but for a young person, that is not what you want. You
want to play and enjoy your football without that attention to you as it can be
quite exhausting.
Rooney scored in Englands 3-1 Euro 2012 qualifying win over Switzerland two
days after the scandal broke but has not found the net for his club since last
months trip to West Ham. But even without last seasons 34-goal talisman in
top form, Fergie is convinced United will battle it out with Chelsea and Arsenal
for the Premier League title.
And he has written off the chances of hated rivals Liverpool and Manchester
City, as well as Spurs.
The Old Trafford chief said: United, Arsenal and Chelsea started the season
reasonably well and will all be there at the end of the season. It remains to be
seen if Tottenham can break into top four again but the top three are the
strongest right now. After wins against West Brom, Wigan, Stoke, West Ham
and Blackpool, champions and league leaders Chelsea face their first big test
of the season at City tomorrow.
5. A HERO soldier who lost both legs and an eye after rescuing comrades from the
battlefield FOUR times was awarded the Military Cross yesterday. Corporal Ricky

Furgusson repeatedly put his life on the line to save FIVE colleagues wounded in
Afghanistan.
Cpl Furgusson, 25, was then struck by an Improvised Explosive Device himself. The
hero on his first tour of duty in IED-ridden southern Helmand lost both legs above
the knee, his left eye and a finger.
Modest Cpl Furgusson, of 4th Battalion the Rifles, said yesterday: I was section
commander and when one of your guys gets injured the first reaction is to get there
and keep him alive. The corporal, of Telford, Shrops, got the third highest military
award at a ceremony on Salisbury Plain, Wilts, yesterday.
He was taking his first brave steps on stilts while he waits for his full-size prosthetic
legs. Single Cpl Furgusson who was CONSCIOUS throughout his bomb ordeal said:
Ive only had these a week. I was in hospital a long time. Now I just want to get up on
my proper legs. There were 131 brave troops named in the latest batch of military
gongs yesterday nine of them awarded posthumously. L/Cpl James Hastie, 20, was
given the Queens Commendation for Bravery for saving Cpl Andy Reid, who lost three
limbs in Sangin. And Lieutenant Craig Shephard, 24, of the Grenadier Guards got the
Military Cross for his efforts in outflanking a major Taliban ambush.

Biggest sealife survey: Most ocean life is unknown

London, England (CNN) The planets seas and oceans are richer and more
diverse than scientists suspected, the biggest survey of marine life has revealed
but many mysteries remain.
The Census of Marine Life, which announced its full findings Monday, has taken 10
years to complete, employing 2,700 scientists from 80 nations. The $650 million study
surveyed from the coldest waters to the warmest lagoons, from the smallest microbes
to the largest cetaceans. It even looked at life 10,000 meters (6.2 miles) down in the
Marianas Trench southeast of Japan.
Scientists tagged and tracked marine creatures in order to gain insight into their
migratory habits and populations as well as how they breed and what they eat. The
census also explored some unusual sights during its 10 years, including what
scientists labelled a White Shark Cafe and a sturgeon playground in the Pacific as
well as giant bacteria and mollusks.
In August scientists working on the census revealed that the richest waters for marine
life are around Australia and Japan; and that crustaceans are the biggest group
populating the seas, making up around one-fifth of sea life. Scientists estimate that
there are more than 1 million marine species but only about 250,000 have been
formally described in scientific literature over the centuries. Those figures exclude
microbes of which the census estimate there are up to 1 billion kinds.
Myriam Sibuet, vice-chair of the Scientific Steering Committee on the mammoth
study, said: The census enlarged the known world. Life astonished us everywhere we
looked. In the deep sea we found luxuriant communities despite extreme conditions.

The census also collated information on the 16,764 species of fish that have ever
been described but estimates that a further 5,000 have yet to be discovered.
Central to the census is its database called the Ocean Biogeographic Information
System (or OBIS), which includes 28 million observations of more than 120,000
species, going back centuries. OBIS is growing at the rate of about five million
observations each year.
Before the census, we lacked even a simple list of known marine species. Information
was scattered all over the world with limited access.
The amount of marine life yet to be detailed varies wildly by region. The census
estimates only 10 percent is yet to be described in European waters but that figure
rises to 75 percent for the deeper waters of the Mediterranean and 80 percent for the
seas around Australia.
The census is inviting other organizations, projects and individuals to help monitor life
in the worlds waters by contributing to OBIS. Ian Poiner, chair of the Census Steering
Committee, said: This cooperative international 21st century voyage has
systematically defined for the first time both the known and the vast unknown,
unexplored ocean. All surface life depends on life inside and beneath the oceans. Sea
life provides half of our oxygen and a lot of our food and regulates climate. We are all
citizens of the sea.
The census also used DNA barcoding for example, ensuring a specimen can be
identified by something as small as a fish scale for 35,000 species, as well as
establishing baseline measures so that future damage from climate change or
pollution can be accurately assessed.
Patricia Miloslavich, co-senior scientist on the census, said in a statement: Before the
census, we lacked even a simple list of known marine species. Information was
scattered all over the world with limited access. If we liken Earth to a firm with
humankind as CEO, we must surely know the key employees and their functions.
More than 300 key scientists who worked on the census meet from Monday in London
to discuss their findings and plan further work. The survey was began 10 years ago by
Fred Grassle at Rutgers University, New Jersey, and Jesse Ausubel of the Alfred P.
Sloan Foundation, New York.

Interested in a career that will make patients smile? Dental assistants held over 270,000 jobs in
2009, and according to the Bureau of Labor Statistics, that number is expected to increase far
faster than the average for all occupations through 2014. With dental care an important priority in
any economy, the dental assisting job market has remained strong.
So what exactly to do dental assistants do for a living? A lot it turns out. They fill a wide variety of
roles in the dental office. Some of these include preparing patients for dental procedures, ensuring
the sterility of the dental environment, assisting dentists during procedures by providing tools and
materials, working with suppliers to schedule deliveries, helping patients schedule appointments,
teaching patients about proper oral health, and taking patient x-rays. With all those roles being
filled by dental assistants, its hard to imagine any dental office could function without them. This
broad range of responsibilities also leads to a diverse and interesting work experience.
The ideal candidate for a dental assistant career is someone who is caring and wants to help
others, pays attention to details, is able to follow specific procedures, and enjoys interacting with
other people. The wide range of responsibilities means that dental assistants must have a variety
of skills and be constantly learning and improving as the dental industry evolves.

Wisdom teeth are the last teeth to erupt within the mouth. When they align properly, and gum
tissue is healthy, wisdom teeth do not have to be removed. Unfortunately, this does not generally
happen. The extraction of wisdom teeth is necessary when they are prevented from properly
erupting within the mouth. They may grow sideways, partially emerge from the gum, and even
remain trapped beneath the gum and bone. Impacted teeth can take many positions in the bone
as they attempt to find a pathway that will allow them to erupt successfully.
These poorly positioned impacted teeth can cause many problems. When they are partially
erupted, the opening around the tooth allows bacteria to grow and will eventually cause an
infection. The result: swelling, stiffness, pain and illness. The pressure from the erupting wisdom
tooth may move other teeth and disrupt the orthodontic or natural alignment of teeth. The most
serious problem occurs when tumors or cysts form around the impacted wisdom tooth, resulting in
the destruction of the jawbone and healthy teeth. Removal of the offending impacted tooth or
teeth usually resolves these problems. Early removal is recommended to avoid such future
problems and to decrease the surgical risk involved with the procedure.
Oral Examination
With an oral examination and x-rays of the mouth, Drs. Moyer and Zajkowski can evaluate the
position of the wisdom teeth and predict if there may be present or future problems. Studies have
shown that early evaluation and treatment result in a superior outcome for the patient. Patients
are generally first evaluated in the mid- teenage years by their dentist, orthodontist or by an oral
and maxillofacial surgeon.
All outpatient surgery is performed under appropriate anesthesia to maximize patient comfort.
Drs. Moyer and Zajkowski have the training, license and experience to provide various types of
anesthesia to allow patients to select the best alternative. These services are provided in an
environment of optimum safety, utilizing modern monitoring equipment and staff experienced in
anesthesia techniques.

A Little Love for Piranhas

I have no intention of seeing Piranha 3D. I dislike films that vilify animalseven a species whose dagger teeth
shear live things to shreds. I do not want to see a certain male body part . (1) at me in 3D. Nor do I wish to
listen to lines . (2) The first bite draws blood. The blood draws the pack followed by a bikinied girl getting
yanked under, Jaws style. Still, the film made me wonder about these ill-reputed creatures. Herewith, a piranha
primer.
Hunting isnt typically their thing. Though reputed as fierce predators, most piranhas timidly scavenge. Theyre
the vultures of the Amazon, cleaning up the fleshy messes. They are also omnivorous, eating seeds and plants
as well as meat.
Big animals arent the usual target. Unless they . (3). starving, as is sometimes the case during the dry season
in the Amazon when water levels drop, piranhas rarely attack a much larger animal (such as you), though bites
and lost toes do occur, and blood in the water . (4) get them riled up.
Its sometimes a piranha-eat-piranha world. During a feeding frenzy, piranhas sometimes tear each other .. (5)
along with their intended prey. Then, cannibalism is common. Why waste fresh meat?
Theyre good parentsat least initially. A mom may . (6) 600 eggs at once, dad promptly fertilizes them, and
both parents guard the brood once it hatches. (Later, they might eat some of their young. But lets not focus on
the negative.)
Despite their scary looks, theyre actually cowards. Okay, thats a bit unfair, but studies . (7) shown that rather
than congregating to hunt cooperatively, as was always believed, they join forces because theyre afraid of being
eaten. Theyre especially likely to band togetherin schools as large as 1,000 fish at times of year when
predators such as caimans and dolphins are regularly present. Apparently, theyve gotten the message
(evolutionarily speaking) that theres safety in numbers even if you yourself have really sharp teeth.
24 U.S. states have outlawed keeping piranhas as pets. The main concern isnt the danger to human toes but
that, if released into the wild, theyll become (8) and outcompete or kill native species. As they prefer warmer
water, their survival would be most likely in southern states. Cold kills them.
In states where piranha are legal to keep in aquariums, one particular species is a favorite. The red-bellied
piranha, Pygocentrus nattereri, has a rosy tummy and shimmering scales. Pretty! The species is also known
(9) its aggression, which for some enthusiasts is the whole point (apparently, its fun to watch a big fish quickly
turn live bait into a bloody pulp).
Hollywood typecasts them. Piranhas have starred in at least four films, including Piranha 3D, all of (10)
portray them as bloodthirsty man-eaters. Sample plot, courtesy of imdb.com: Doctor Baines has been
conducting genetic experiments on piranhas and has made them virtually unstoppable (Roger Cormans
Piranha).
Theodore Roosevelt wasnt a fan. In his 1914 book Through the Brazilian Wilderness, the president described
seeing starving piranhas devour a cow carcass (probably placed in the water by local fishermen to guarantee a
show). He called piranhas the most ferocious fish in the world that will rend and devour alive any wounded
man or beast; for blood in the water excites them to madness. He further described the fish as the embodiment
of evil ferocity; and the actions of the fish exactly match its looks. Later, he adds, The only redeeming feature
about them is that they are themselves fairly good to eat, although with too many bones.
