Wickhams Selection Principles & Criteria

Components
Selection Principles:
The purpose of Teaching Together with Technology (T 3) is
to provide teachers and students the ability to enhance the learning
experience of the classroom with technology tools. If the technology
used does not enrich the learning experience of teachers and students,
it will be re-evaluated of its purpose.
Technology will be used as an asset in the classroom to
provide students variety in their critical thinking, collaboration,
communication, and creativity.
In selecting technology to be used in the classroom, be
aware of reviews from teachers, parents, and students. Value should
be placed on the type of resource and its purpose rather than the cost
and application. Not only should the technology tools be evaluated by
the instructional technologist, but reviews from web resources (i.e.
Amazon, iTunes, etc.) should also be taken into account.
If the opportunity arises, teachers and students opinion
on new and noteworthy technology resources should be assessed
when applicable. This could be a monthly or quarterly meeting in which
new and noteworthy technology resources could be presented for
future use.
Selection Criteria:
Technology should be aligned with the Georgia School of
Excellence Standards.
Technology should prepare student for success in the
classroom and as college and career ready individuals.
Technology should allow students the master critical
thinking, collaboration, communication, and creativity.
Technology should meet the needs of teachers and
students in enhancing the learning environment rather than hinder its
learners.
Technology should challenge students to think in new
ways rather than replace a paper and pencil task.
Technology should provide a variety of learners options in
creation of their end task.
Technology should be made available to all students
regardless of their age, race, sex, religious or political belief. The only
hinderance to their usage of technology is a negative fine or
administrative hold.
Technology should meet all of the following criteria. If this
is not the case, but still desired to be an addition to the program, a
valid reason should be supported with date as to how the specific

criteria does not apply.

Gift policy: Gifts will be accepted pending evaluation of financial
stipulations in addition to how the gift with be used to the benefit of the
technology program. As long as the gift meets expectations, the decision of
its use is up to the program.
