    MyexplanatoryessaycontainsinformationaboutChina,andtheroletheChineseplayedinthe
    makingofWWI.WhilewritingthisessayIgatheredskillssuchasresearchingandconveying
    informationinameaningfulway.Thepoemandessaypiecescomplimenteachotherasthe
    essaygiveshistoricalcontexttothepoem.ThepoemIwrotewascalled
    ToBeBehind,
    andit
    describestheChineseLabourCorpsthroughtheperspectiveofalabourershands.Iwrotemy
    poemintheformofananaphora,arhetoricaldeviceusedtoemphasizewordsorphrasesusing
    repetition.AstheeventmanagerIinvestedmucheffortintoorganizingthebooklaunchparty.
    Thisincludedfindingandsettingupavenue,designatingrolestomypeers,andworkingwitha
    budget.

    2. Whatareyoumostproudof?
    Iammostproudofachievingcoordinatingthebooklaunchevent/exhibition.Iwasa
    leaderinthisaspectoftheproject,andIamhappytohavegainedtheexperienceofdirecting
    andhelpingpeopleasitwillbemostrelevantinmyfuture.Ialsoworkedwithabudgetofeighty
    dollars,andhadtospendwiselyandprioritizecertainportionsoftheparty.Ilearnedagreat
    dealofdesignandhowcomfortandthefivesensesarecrucialtohostingasuccessfulevent.Iam
    proudbecauseIgainedsomuchinformationfromthisundertaking.

    3. Whatdoyourememberbestfromthisproject?
    Irememberattheverybeginningofthisproject,beforepoems,essays,andbooklaunch
    teams,creatingposterswithapartneraboutweaponsusedinWWI.Theweaponmypartner,
    Angela,andIchosetostudywastheMaximMachineGun.TheMaximgunwasinventedinthe
    1800s,longbeforeWWI,butwerentwidelyuseduntilthewarbegan.Ourposterturnedoutto
    bemoreofaninfographic,andwehadsomeextraspaceatthebottomtofill,sowedecidedto
    insertaquote.Wechose,Whateverhappenswehavegot/TheMaximGun,andtheyhave
    not.byHilaireBelloq.Thisquotestuckwithmebecausethefirstworldwarisreferredtoasthe
    machinegunwar,andtheadvantagesthistechnologybrought.

    4. Lessonsyouhavelearnedfromthisproject.
    AlessonIwillalwaysusethatIpickedupinthisprojectistheimportanceofdraftsand
    refinement.Iusedtoliketheraw,unrefined,purefirstproduct,asIthoughtitwasthemost
    authentic.Howeverwiththenumerousdraftsandcritiqueswewererequiredtohave,Irealized
    thatmyworkwasimprovingwitheveryversion!Revisioniscrucialforimprovementandthis
    projecthasshownmeitspower.Icancarrythislessonwithmeasagrowingpersonandlearner.

    5. Whataresometransferableskillsyouhavedevelopedinthisproject?
    Aseventmanager,Igainedmanagementskillssuchasinitiatingnewideas,giving
    directions,andmakingdecisions.Theseskillsaretransferable,asIcannowapplythemtoother
    aspectsofmylife.Forexample,IcanusegivingcleardirectionswhenIamworkingagroupin
    biology.Anotheruseforinitiatingnewideasisfindingresolutionstoconflictsinnew,creative
    ways.
