I had the pleasure of working with her in my elementary learning support classroom at Susquenita Elementary School for six weeks. During her time in my classroom, her performance was superb. While working in my classroom, she worked with students with learning disabilities in reading, writing, and math. She also worked with students who had autism, emotional disturbance, and other health impairments. two different time periods though out the day, Ashley was also able to work in an inclusive setting. She worked with students with and without disabilities in the regular education setting in second and third grade for reading and math, Ashley also had the opportunity to attend and participate in faculty meetings, IEP meetings, and special education team meetings. Ashley has an extensive knowledge for how to teach elementary level students. During her time here, she instructed students using the Scholastic System 44 Reading Program, the Wilson Program, and McGraw Hill Wonders Reading Program. She planned lessons, ran large and small instructional groups. She also worked with students individually on specific skills. Ashley found materials that met the students’ needs, while challenging them to reach their full potential. Ashley was always well prepared and included a variety of materials into each of her lessons. During her time in my classroom, Ashley was able to effectively manage the classroom and was well-liked by the students. Ashley was very patient and calm when working with students displaying challenging behaviors. During each lesson and experience, she looked for ways to reflect on her performance and for ways that she could grow as a professional. Ashley Tilton was a wonderful addition to my classroom and I whole-heartedly recommend her for any teaching position. She would make an excellent additional to any faculty.
