Technology is continuously growing in the world of education.

One of the best things

educators can do is bring that technology into the classroom and use is for educational purposes.
Instructional technology can be defined as, learning development and management processes
used for designing and evaluating instruction (Luppicini, 2005, p. 106). The designing and
evaluating of instruction are aided with the use and integration of technology in classrooms.
There are various amounts of ways a teacher can bring technology into the classroom.
Technology is widely used in education for all grade levels. For example, an elementary
school teacher can assign in class work or homework online for any subject. Typically, students
will do simple mathematics or English exercises online according to the students grade level.
An advantage of this is students can do this individually or in small groups. Also, some of these
activities may or may not be graded giving flexibility to the teacher and students. An article
about elementary technology states, In the elementary years the approach is focused on a
holistic, integrated curriculum (Hill, 1996, p. 20). Technology is being introduced and
integrated at lower grade levels, and is done purposefully. Having children use technology at a
young age will help prepare them for what is expected in middle school and high school.
Secondary education and technology bring about many new ways to use it. An example
is teenagers bringing the newest technology into classrooms. The reason why is usually for
social purposes, but most of the time when teachers see a way to relate to students they take it.
One of the best ways to build a relationship with students is to connect with them, and this may
be done through technology. Also, teachers will be able to have students do more group work
together outside of class since it will become easier as students get older. Doing group and
individual presentations in class will help students prepare for college and career as well. It is
also a chance for students to personalize their work and be proud of it. Also, many students will

have tablets, laptops or cellphones and those can be used during class for research or class
interaction (Poll Everywhere, Kahoot, etc.). In addition, with digital technologies, there is an
increase in socially mediated practices that can occur in diversesettings (Gomez, Shieble,
Curwood & Hassett, 2010, p. 22). One of the major reasons of integration technology is for
interaction and collaboration amongst peers along with teacher help. Technology can be used
individually or as a group, either way there is some sort of interaction with technology in the
classroom. It is especially important for kids in secondary education to understand how to use
technology properly, and to adapt when something changes. Technology teaches a lot when used
intentionally and purposefully.
Integration technology can be used to bring students to work together. It is the teachers
job to give technology a reason to be used, and what it needs to be used for. Also, it is important
for teachers to explain why it will be important for the future, and that technology will always be
around. Overall, there are different instructional technologies for different grade levels that
result in interaction and collaboration in the classroom.
