You Cannot underestimate the

importance of your Resume. This is
your first Impression. First
Impression is the Last Impression.
This is your Last chance to capture
your potential employers attention,
to pique his or her interest. This is
your ticket into the job of your
choice. Resume Writing is an act of
self-promotion. You have to show
your prospective employer that you
are unequivocally right for the job.
Not only that, but you have to
outline your experiences and your
Accomplishments otherwise, how
will he or she know that you are
truly qualified for the job?
Furthermore, the document also
serves as an example concerning
how well you can communicate and
how good you are at organization.
Think of your resume as a
promotional brochure about you!

These are the five key components

of a Resume. Standing out can
mean the difference between
landing the interview and being
shuffled in the endless pile of
applications. While you want your
resume to be eye catching,
employers will expect to see certain
sections in your resume no matter
what. Be creative, but be thorough.
These sections make up the
backbone of a solid resume and
shouldnt be left out unless theyre
irrelevant to your experience (such
as education).

Identification: This is your contact

information should be included at
the top of your resume. Beneath
your full name, include as much
detail as youre willing to share,
such as your address, home phone,
cell phone, and email address.
Dont include your social security
number; this can be shared when
youre officially hired.
Career Profile: Also known as a
summary statement. Your summary
statement is perhaps the most
important aspect of your resume. It
offers a short, compelling
description of your career
accomplishments, as well as your
future ambitions. How will you
impact the target company? Why
should they continue reading? What
sets you apart from everyone else?
Education: If youve completed
higher education, this is a section to
include in your resume with the
name of the school or college, the
degree or course of study, and the
dates you attended/graduated.

Skills: Skills are an often

overlooked section to include in
your resume. A skills summary can
replace the qualification summary
toward the top of your resume,
breaking down individual skills into
easy to read bullet points or nicely
formatted lists for your employer to
scan. Skills are often a determining
factor when differentiating an
specific skill that will meet the
employer's need.

exactly the same. However, formats are
somewhat standardized so that
employers can easily find the
information they seek. After your
heading, sequence the information on
your resume from most important to
least important with regard to
supporting your career profile.

Heading: Use the form of your

name as it appears on academic
records and other documents an
employer may require you to
provide, so there will be no
confusion that documents belong to
the same person.
Career Profile: Make sure the
employer knows either the industry
you want to work in, or the type of
work you want to do, or the skills
you want to apply, or some
combination.
Education: Your education section
should almost always immediately
follow the objective statement. This
is because your education is your
current pursuit or most recent
significant accomplishment and is
usually related to your objective.
Experience: If at all possible, use
relevant experience to support your
career profile. This experience can
be paid or unpaid, an internship or
a substantial class project,
volunteer positions, or positions
held in clubs, etc. Your experience
does not have to be paid to be
relevant. This allows you to include
any experience
Skills: Most resumes can benefit
from having a skills section. The
heading might simply read "Skills,"
and include a list of various skills,
writing skills, etc.
