Persuasive Speech
SAMPLE PERSUASIVE OUTLINE TOPIC: Supporting The United States Intervening
with Syrian war.
ORGANIZATIONAL PATTERN: Problem-Solution.
GENERAL PURPOSE: To persuade
SPECIFIC PURPOSE: To persuade the audience to be in favor of supporting the United
States helping Syria.
PRIMARY AUDIENCE OUTCOME: To have the audiences see the importance of
helping the Syrian war, and why it is beneficial for the public.
THESIS STATEMENT: Intervening needs to continue because it helps the Syrias
citizens, builds a better alliance with Syria.
INTRODUCTION: (attention getter) If you were in great need for someone to help you
get away from a bad situation would you want them to help? Now the question is would
you be the one helping if someone else needed it?
I. The opposition has often fallen back on two primary arguments: that intervening has no
real goal, and that this civil war has been going on for years.
1. The proposition that intervening has no real goal is an incomplete assumption.
1. Yes, people feel that if the United States goal isnt to take Syrian president
Bashar Assad, then what is the objective?

2. The goal for intervening with Syria would be to help citizens because of
the situation they are currently in
a) Syrians have been pleading for protection from aerial
attacks that are targeting their hospitals, markets and
schools. They have been screaming for help to stop
suffocating their children with toxic gases. Sahloul, M. Z.
(2015)
b) More than 1,000 people were killed and many more injured
from the air strikes that Assad has unleashed. Sahloul, M.
Z. (2015)
c) Syrians have lost an average of 20 years of their life
expectancy. Sahloul, M. Z. (2015)
2. The United States has moral laws against mass murder that have been holding up
since the holocaust and when the United States ignores what is happening with
the thousands of deaths of Syrians then we as a nation are going back on our
beliefs to fight against genocides and mass murders.
a) It is immoral and illegal under international law to kill civilians.
3. While the statement that this war has been active for many years is valid, the
argument that it will not help the United States is misleading.

1. Yes this civil war has been going on for years, but Americans should be
concerned on what is happening because it has the chance to become yet
another undeclared war like Libya but much worse. Giraldi, P. (2012).
a) In the United States, many friends of Israel are on the Assad
regime-change bandwagon, believing that a weakened Syria,
divided by civil war, will present no threat to Tel Aviv. But they
should think again. Giraldi, P. (2012).
2. The fact that the united states can build an alliance with Syria by helping
them will show other countries that are allied with Syria how supporting
of a country the United states is, and therefore can create an opportunity of
those countries being pro United States.
a) Some of these countries would include
1. Jordan who unflavored the United States by 83%
2. Lebanon 60%
3. Pakistan 62%
4. Russia 81%
Pew Research Center. (2015, Jun 18).
That could end so much previous and post conflict with not only these countrys
but many more who are allied with Syria that do not favor the United States.

4. Transition: So Intervening with Syrian war has proven value both in helping
Syrian citizens and gaining alliances, although it may come with some slight
drawbacks.
II. What is the solution to increasing helping Syrias effectiveness? Give intervening the
support it needs so that we can help our country gain relations with Syria and other
countries and also help other citizens that are in desperate need of it.
1. Supporting today helps the present situation.
1. Supporting today will help you aid refugees needing assistance because of
the harmful situation that they are in that is also harming children. This
war is disrupting children with their education, which could have a great
affect later in life to themselves and the Syrian country as a whole.
Another thing that will decrease if you help is the deaths and health
problems of these citizens. They are being exposed to explosives, gases,
and many more harmful items that can harm them now or further down the
road.
2. Supporting today aids you as well.
1. By siding for intervening, you know that the united states is making a
small risk to help a country that is allied with many middle eastern
countries that we are not on good standing with can make it easier to level
out the playing field and possibly end conflict with those countries which
will help he United states as a whole.

2. CONCLUSION:
(Review) so what we have covered in this presentation, is how intervening
will helped out Syrian society with aid and protection. Intervening is not
only the only option, but is a good on for our Country and also Syria. We
must not hesitate to educate our communities to gain their support on this
important issue. Mass killing is still among us today and we must all try
putting a stop to it and making it as big as the issue it is.
