Winthrop Hosts America Recycles Day

Initiative focuses on increasing campus sustainability

Winthrop will host an America Recycles Day on Nov. 14 from 11a.m. to 4 p.m. to further
increase sustainability awareness, engage students and reduce waste on campus. The event
will take place during the annual Homecoming tailgate and focus on guiding students to the
correct bins for recyclables and trash. America Recycles Day is a national initiative of Keep
America Beautiful and Winthrops Office of Sustainability will execute its own segment of the
national America Recycles Day campaign to increase sustainability efforts at Winthrop.

Schools across the nation are implementing different sustainability efforts in their school
curricula. Andrea Watson is a national reporter for Inside Higher Ed.. These institutions are
responsible for addressing societys important issues, which right now include the global

The America Recycles Day is 11 a.m. to 4 p.m.
Recycling stations will be in Homecoming tailgate areas on the Winthrop Coliseum
grounds
