'Skeelers' was the nickname given to the new dry-land skaters.

The skate was made of a wood sole that attached to the bottom of a boot, fitted
with two to four rollers made of copper, wood or ivory, and arranged in a straight
single line.

1819 - First patent for a roller skate by Joseph Merlin

History of blades
In 1980 Scott and Brennan Olsen improved a skate making it the first inline skate
in their basement. They were cruising the streets in them

1988- Rollerblade introduced the first aggressive inline skate. The sport became

Rollerblade became a generic name. as Rollerblade has approximately 200
patents and 116 registered trademarks.

Who invented it : Karl Drais - Originally named a Velocipede and hobby horse/
dandy horse

1860s another bike design came out and it was called bone Shaker

Made of stiff materials, straight angles and steel wheels make this bike literally a
bone shaker to ride over the cobblestone roads of the day. The improvement is a
front wheel with pedals -- direct drive, fixed gear, one speed.

In the 1870s another bike design was introduced called High wheelers
made out of all metal

The number of bicycles in use boomed as production rose from an estimated


200,000 bicycles in 1889 to 1,000,000 in 1899.

In 1971 the bmx bike was invented by teenagers in california


Then in 1980 the safety bike was introduced, small bike with gears, a chain

1950- Wooden boards with roller skate wheels slapped on the bottom where the makings of the original boards

1960s- The sport became very big but then people lost interest because it was very dangerous

1978 - The ollie was born by a kid named Alan Gelfand
