o Completed an individual research project titled Probation/Parole Officers Role in Recovery:


The Importance of Communication.
o Transcribed interviews with women offenders, coded data, and analyzed data to assess the
likelihood of offenders remaining drug and alcohol free as part of probation process.
o Summary:
Found that Probation officers who provide validation, are willing to help, and
complement offenders led to higher rates of sobriety in supervision.
Strict monitoring, and warning women of consequences led to lower rates of sobriety
in supervision.

Effectiveness of Cognitive Behavioral Therapy Among Refugees with Post-Traumatic Stress

Disorder
o Social Research 1 (SW690)
o Summary: Despite improvement over time, people from refugee backgrounds still remain
vulnerable to a number of different mental health problems, specifically Post-Traumatic
Stress Disorder. Social workers play an integral role in developing treatment strategies for
refugees. After review, there is not a concise answer as to the effectiveness of Cognitive
Behavioral Therapy (CBT) among the US refugee population. This research project sought
to determine the effectiveness of CBT with a vulnerable population. Presented all findings to
class.

o Summary: Completed an Agency Audit to determine strengths and weaknesses throughout
the organization. Provided suggestions to address any determined weaknesses. Presented all
findings to class.
