Lesson Specifics
Behavioral Contingencies: For every lesson, the
Previously Learned Skills: All students should know

a warning and a reminder that the next time he or she properly hold a basketball and dribbling, which were

Instant Activity:
Hello class! Today we are going to play
sharks and Minos. I have set up cones on
either end of the black top where the safe
zones are. Anyone can be tagged between
the safe zones. I will chose a shark and
the shark will tag the fish until there is
only one left!
Transition Students can go get a quick
drink of water and then will meet back at
the white line on the black top
Set Induction:
Hey everyone! I know that recently we
have been learning about basketball and
practicing our dribbling and bounce
passing skills. Today we are going to
continue that and learn another pass
called the chest pass also!
Purpose:
The reason we are going to be practicing
our bounce pass and learn the chest pass
is to show all the different ways one can
pass the basketball to each other during a
basketball game in order to get a basket.
Transition
Students will be paired up and go to their
poly spot. I will give them each a
basketball after I explain the COTs of the
skill and what they will be doing.

They will dribble the ball and then
bounce pass the ball to a partner.
Demonstration Plan:
Teacher Demonstration.

ground?

task
CA standard 1.10: Throw and
catch an object with a partner,
increasing the distance from
the partner and maintain an
accurate throw that can be
easily caught.
Students will be bounce
passing the ball to a partner
and then move further back
once they have master the
bounce pass each.
Teaching Cues for Task 1:
Since the students have learned
the cues of the bounce pass last
week, I will reiterate the cues
of the skill and make sure the
students remember how to do
the skill. The student will step
forward with desired foot and
bounce ball of the way to
partner with fingers pushed
away. COTs: Eyes, step, push
Common Errors Task 1:
1. No eye contact with partner
2. bounce ball too hard or too
high

Teacher Demonstration. I will first

demonstrate the skill with a student then I
will have two students demonstrate the
skill.
Questions to Check Understanding
How should the elbows be bent before
passing?
How far should the arms extend when
passing the ball?
Adaptations
If students are having trouble having ball
reach partner, the students can move
closer to each other. If the passing for the
two students is easy, then the students can
move further apart from each other.

Transition: I will have students bring ball

to me and put it in bag, then have
students go back and sit at white line.
CLOSURE:
Review: Okay class, I hope everyone had
fun today a learned a little more about
basketball passing. Can someone say the
COTs of the chest pass for me? And can
someone show me where the hands
should be placed when performing the
chest pass? Next time we will be
focusing even more on basketball and
getting into a little game play.

Closure

a) Goal Orientation for each

task
Students will be practicing the
chest pass to each other. Once
the student and their partner
has mastered the chest pass,
they can take a step back so
the pass is more difficult and
they still have to attempt for
accuracy to partner.
Teaching Cues for Task 2:
Square body to target
Thumbs against chest-elbows
bent and out
Step toward target
Extend arms fully releasing
ball to target
Thumbs should then be
pointing down
Bend, extend, release
Common Errors Task 2:
Student does not have arms at
chest.
Thumbs are not pointing down
when ball is released.
