SKILL: The Skip

VISUAL DESCRIPTION:
A continual movement consisting of a hop or a bounce from one foot to the
next. Movement should be fluid.
MOVEMENT SEQUENCE (* by key 4 steps)

VERBAL CUES

a. Place your dominant foot forward

Action Students will perform the skip to the best of their abilities
Condition Students will skip with fluidity and smooth movements
Criterion Students will skip 25ft. (center line of basketball court), then
back 3 consistent times

DRILLS/ACTIVITIES TO DEVELOP THE SKILL- two examples of


games/activities, with explanations.

1. Spaghetti and Meatballs: Students will skip within the area of a basketball
court. Two teams: the spaghetti will have jump ropes which they use to take
the meatballs (foam balls) off the plates (hola hoops), Meatballs will place
the meatballs (foam balls) on the plates (hola hoops) however, will not
exceed one meatball per plate
Equipment needs:
- Hola hoops
- Foam balls
- Jump ropes
2. Relay Race: Students will be divided into teams and one at a time skip the
length of 50 ft. then back, to demonstrate skill. Once the entire team has
finished, then sit to indicate all team members have participated. If a
teammate does not perforce the skill correctly, he or she, must start over.
