1. Tell me about yourself.


Tell me about yourself in a job interview really means give me an overview of who you are,
professionally speaking. Theres a reason this is asked at the very beginning of an interview it
says give me the broad background.
I am a senior at Northwood-Kennett. I currently have a part time job at Tequilas, the local
Mexican bar and grill, as a server. I have worked there for 2 and 1/2 years. When I am not doing
homework or working, I stay busy by staying involving within my youth group at First Lutheran
Church, or with various clubs and activities through the school. After High school I will be
attending the University of Iowa with a pre-medicine major.
2. Why did you leave your last job? (Or why are you thinking about leaving your current job?)
To pursue other opportunities.
3. Tell me about your experience at your last job (or work experience).
It was a good experience. I enjoy working with and talking to people, so what better way to do
that than being a server.
4. What skills do you have that would be an asset to our company?
I am a people person. I am easy to get a long with and love talking to people. I am also have
good work ethic. I am also a very positive person.
5. Tell me about your strengths.
Like I said, I am a good worker. I am also very organized, and am excellent at balancing my
time.
6. Tell me about a time when you had to make a hard decision.
7. What salary range are you looking for?
Negotiable. Anything that is minimum wage or higher.

I want a job that I enjoy coming to, and that provides me with the money I need.

10. Tell me about your school experiences.


I have always really enjoyed school. This sounds nerdy, but I am always so infatuated about
learning. Especially in the science field. That being said, I have never been disappointed in the
amount of learning I am doing. Apart from the actual school aspect of school, I have a great
group of friends, that I met through school and I really enjoy spending time with them.
11. How are you a team player?
I would say I am a team player because I am good at listening to others. I am also always willing
to take feedback from others and applying to the situation at hand or to life in general.
12.Describe the relationship that should exist between a supervisor and subordinate.
I think it should definitely be a professional one, but I should be comfortable around them as
well.
13. What do you look for in your work supervisor?
Someone I get along well with, and I am comfortable talking to. Friendly people are the best
kind of people for anything.
14. How does this position fit in with the career path you envision for yourself? (What are your
career goals?)
I hope to one day, many years along the line, become a doctor. Any job is a good way for me to
develop different kinds of skills, because ultimately Medical programs look for well-rounded
individuals.
15.What has been your biggest achievement?
I would say that my biggest achievements are any leadership position I have held. I enjoy being a
leader, so anytime I get the change to be its an honor.
16. Do you think your grades adequately represent your abilities?
I definitely think that my grades adequately represent my abilities.
17.If I spoke with your previous boss, what in which areas would he or she say you need
improvement?
She would probably say that I am too hard on myself, and that I shouldnt get so upset with
myself.
18.What is your greatest weaknesses as an employee?
I tend to procrastinate, but when I get to the task it is definitely done well. I also tend to be slight
attention deficit.

19.What are the first five things you would do if you got this position?
I would notify my current employer, then notify my friends and family, I would make any
necessary changes to my daily schedule, set up a time to go over aspects and skills of the job
with you, then I would attend the meeting that we set up.
20. What brings you here today?
I am here today to pursue other employment options.
21. How would your best friend describe you?
She would probably say that I have a lot of funny, but after a while, annoying habits. She would
also say that I am very driven and hardworking.
22.Why should we hire you?
You should hire me because I have an attitude that will be great for your job, and I am always
willing to learn and become a better employee, and ultimately a better person.
23. How do you deal with stress on the job?
I try to stay calm, I may become a little fidgety. However, these feeling dont last for long.
24. What is your ideal work environment?
Anywhere where I can express myself. Whether thats through my work or through people.
25.You asked off from work, but we need you to come in that night? Would you come in to
work?
26. How do you resolve conflicts?
I resolve conflicts usually by first finding out where it started. Then I talk to whom it may
concern. Once I resolve why the conflict was started I counteract that actions. Kind of like taking
a -5 and adding a positive 5 to make 0.
27. How are you motivated?
I am motivated because of the life goal I set for my self. That is to become a doctor. I know that
there are several steps and conflicts in my life that I will have to overcome in order to make this
happen.
28. How do you raise the bar for yourself and others around you?
I think I raise the bar for others when they see that I am an extremely motivated person, and I
dont give up for anything. When it comes to raising the bar for myself I think I do this by
consistently achieving each little goal inside my big goal.

29. What special skills and/or qualifications set you apart from other candidates?
Being a server I think I have a very different and unique way of seeing the way people work. I
am able to work with people in a very special way, also because, I have a passion for helping
people.
30.Where do you see yourself in five years?
In 5 years I see myself in my first year of medical school. Living in a house or an apartment, with
a part time job.
