Synopsis

Satish is a sales manager which is newly promoted


as a deputy manager three weeks ago for a
product that he was not familiar with. Mr George
the companys vice president convened a meeting
3 days ago. Being convinced by Preet, the
marketing director, Satish decided to be a
substitute for the meeting which is supposed to be
attended by Ketan the product manager. At the
time of the meeting, Satish was quite confuse and
fared miserably while Mr. George was questioning
about the product having forgotten that Satish was
new to the job. Preet was in two minds at the time
whether to interrupt George and tell him that
Satish is new to the job or wait till the end of the
meeting and talk to George privately. George also
said that the lack of preparation and sloppy work of
Satish should not be excused. Preet decided to let
the meeting end and talk to George while Satish
felt a bit angry at the treatment. George then
decided to call Satish to the room to apologize
saying that it is Satishs job to make sure that their
bosses do not make mistakes and expect that
Satish should know all the nuances of the product
in three months before ending the conversation.

employee and the response of Satish if I were
him

Mr.George is very strict which will make all his
employees ready at the right time
Satish has the guts to face any challenges that
comes

Mr.George judge without thinking
Satish accepts a command and acts without
preparing on how strict will his superiors will be

There are boss that fires an employee at a first
disappointment of impression

The approach of Mr. George might create space


between him and his employees which can affect
their productivity
Opportunity
The guts of Satish by accepting to substitute
with his superior to learn can help him to be ready
for more promotions
The strictness of Mr. George can make his
employee ready for any hard works or projects that
can be done even faster because of it
Statement of Alternative Course of Action
Pros
It is necessary to apologize because it was Mr.
Georges misjudgment and I will respond by
accepting my wrong unprepared move because it
will develop my adaptability depending on the boss
Mr. Georges strictness may be a good
character for others to be trained on time and well
prepared, some company might employ him as
well because of it
Preet did not make a mistake, for us
researchers; it is both the mistake Satish and Mr.

George. The purpose of the actions of Preet was


just to cool off or to calm the situation
They could have prevented the situation if they
review managers regularly, we are wondering why
Mr. George did not know if there are new faces in
the product managers that attended and just judge
without hesitation
Cons
Saying that it is Satishs job to correct his
bosss mistake while apologizing is wrong; just
because they are the superior does not mean they
would not correct their own mistake. I would not
employ George because of his playsafe attitude
and first impression judgements if the basis of my
employment is character and not experience.
Mr. George was playing safe and wants Satish
to take all the credit for that small conflict. That is
why that I would not be happy if George will be our
boss, in the case of Preet, he did not do any major
actions that reveals his character so we cannot
judge if we will be happy having him as a boss.
Checking the managers regularly might
consume time but it will prevent any sloppy work
and unexpected failures meetings

Statement of Conclusion
Mr. George judgments might a bit rough but
Satish is the one that accepts the idea of
substitution on the meeting so the researchers
might conclude that it is both their mistake of
having misjudgments and unpreparedness that
could be prevented if they check the managers
regularly and give priority in reviewing on who will
attend the meetings

Recommendation
The researchers recommend that they must
monitor on who will join the meetings and what are
their backgrounds before they conduct a meeting
and prepare a questions for those who will join so
that no one will get insults unexpectedly. So that
the managers themselves will have time and will
be informed to prepare before they meet with their
superiors
