Functionalist
Theory
A functional theorist would not
consider a single parent family to be a
real family. To be functioning the
family must consist of several parts,
and if they are missing a family
member, it is detrimental. Everyone is
supposed to have their own part and if
they do to the family is off balance and
is not good for the well being of the
family.
Conflict
Theory
In society the single parent
families have less power than two
parent families. Two parent
families have more resources.
Single parents families kids tend
to have problems socializing and
in school. Single parent families
are more likely to be poor than
those in two parent households.
