Simulation
Honours Project
Tree
As part of my honours project I have created a simulation in DirectX11 which simulates the
motion of tree branches under the influence of wind. These trees have also been created
using 3D L-System grammars. The project aims to evaluate the need for more realistic tree
animations in a game context and how tree animation could be used to add realism into a
game or possibly as a game mechanic. The aim is to be able to have a realistic looking
simulation running in real time making use of both the CPU and GPU.

Student Team
Project
During my third I was involved in a student team of ten consisting of designers, artists and
programmers to produce a Kinect for Windows V2 game with a Windows Phone Companion
App. My role in the team was gameplay programmer and I was responsible for creating fun
and interesting game mechanics using Unity3D. I was also responsible for the entire design
and creation of the Windows Phone app written in C#. The app was a very simple level editor
allowing the player to create levels which could be imported to and played in the real game.
This project allowed me to showcase my skills as a programmer by working as part of a
bigger team but also to be productive individually. The project was entered into Microsofts
Imagine Cup 2014/15 where it won Stuff Magazines Peoples choice award and also came
first in the UK Games Category.

Boys Brigade
I value my time at the Boys Brigade as I believe it was one of the main factors which have
influenced the man I am today and the values that I hold. During my time at I have
accumulated many accolades which I am extremely proud of. I have been awarded the
queens badge which is the highest award that can be achieved and required that I take part
in a camping expedition, voluntary work in the church and leadership training. I am also
proud to have been a part of the 125th anniversary (2009) of the Boys Brigade as the
anniversary marching squad comprised of Boys from all over Scotland.
