History of Portlands Music


Portland has had one of the most vibrant hardcore punk scenes in the
Pacific Northwest.
Two bands who are well known representatives of the Punk genre is The
Wipers, and Poison Idea.
The two bands played at a what was known as The Met but has now
become Dantes.
Satyricon was also a popular venue for punk and alternative bands, located
in Old Town. Many bands and celebrities have played here, including the
notorious Kurt Cobain.

Located on 3rd & Burnside
It was previously known as The
Metropolis or "The Met", which featured
underground punk bands.
It was a favorite hangout punk rockers,
drag queens and strippers.
Hosts local bands, internationally-famous
bands, solo acts troupes, and
performance artists.
The building where Dantes is located is
home to many other places, the other
stories have become restaurants and
many more.

Satyricon
It operated from 1983 to 2010, making it
the longest running punk venue in the
Western U.S.
It was known for being the venue in
Portland "where everyone who was or
would be anyone in Northwest rock
played over the course of two decades.
It was also a bar where many celebrities
met including, Courtney Love and Kurt
Cobain.
Dave Grohl also played his first venue
with the Foo Fighters here after the
death of Cobain.

Local music and bands are
important because bands and
musicians need to start locally,
and be supported to make it
There is inner drive to go seek the
scene out
Its a way to express yourselves,
and can be with friends while
doing it

distortion, onbeat punk rock-style
interludes, and punk-style vocals.
Has a more developed
instrumentation and a cleaner
vocal and musical sound.

they sound different from any
other band they have played with

I knew the other guys were a good fit
because it's always super awkward
auditioning for bands but auditioning for
TDB was only kind of awkward. We also
have similar tastes in music so I think from
the start there was never a question of what

music, with ska influence also

if you had a rock oven with a biscuit


and cooked it with punk but then
took it out and drizzled it in hot jazz
and cut it in half and some ska
steamed out - we're that oven.

They knew that they could be a
good fit because they grew up
together in a small town and
become best friends, and had been
playing together since a young age
and all have the same dreams.

Portland?
Because we have our own kinky
style, we dont care what other
people think of us, and that draws
in a certain crowd. A lot of people
in Portland have the same outlook
as us, and can connect with us
through our music.

Where did your name come from?


Patrimony is influenced by all things
inspiring, or "inherited".
Patrimony in the dictionary means:
property inherited from one's father or
male ancestor..
Come from a very musical place,
and families, so the name has more
hidden meaning than a lot of people
think.
