Emerging Technology: The Smartboard

THE SMARTBOARD

The Smartboard is an amazing tool! The Smartboard ranges from

3,999$ to 6,799$. This board is the combination of a standard white
board and computer. You can bring up websites, draw, type, pretty
much everything you can do one the desktop computer can be done on
a Smartboard. I have had the pleasure of using a Smartboard in all of
my high school courses and enjoyed it so much. I could access
programs such as word, powerpoint, excel, even the internet, and what
makes it a must have in the classroom is the fact that its a screen for
everyone to see. Before being introduced to the Smartboard if the
teacher needed to show us anything on the computer we either had
laptops assigned to use and had to follow the teachers directions to get
the site. With the Smartboard the teacher is able to share the screen
with the entire classroom. The Smartboard has buttons on the bottom
and along the side to switch from keyboard to curser for selection.

Project based learning is a great way to incorporate technology

into education and make the experience fun. Students put
together what they have learned into dierent projects. These
projects involve students doing research, using dierent
computer programs, and creativity.

INNOVATIVE USES

PROJECT BASED LEARNING

Project based learning causes students to collaborate and

share ideas. It also brings in the use of technology and
dierent programs like the ones we have been using in this
course. Its helping the students get familiar with technology
while challenging them to learn new things with every
project.
