1. List the steps involved in capturing video,
compressing the video, and preparing it for DVD.
Briefly discuss the decisions you need to make with
each step regarding compromises on image quality
and other limiting factors.
First of all we must capture a video using a video
camera which has higher and better resolution.
After capturing videos,we cant prepare it for a
DVD without editing the RAW footages.
Then we need to choose a suitable video editing
tool like Premier Pro to edit thos RAW footages.
After editing we need to import it,when importing
we need to think about size and the quality of the
video
So we need to choose suitable codec to compress
the video while mainting a higher resolution.
After importing the edited video, we can burn it to
a DVD using suitable DVD burning software.
2. Discuss how the computer monitor image differs from
a television image. List the limitations in creating
images on the computer destined for a television
screen.
There is no major diffenrences between TV and
computer monitor physically. But there are some major
differences in technology. TV has less pixel density than
a computer monitor. And colours are looks more vivid in
TV than computer monitors. So if we view an image in a
TV screen it will look bit bigger than we see it in the
computer monitor and we can see sharpness of the
image is less in TV.
So its always good to use a computer monitor.

3. Discuss several considerations in shooting and editing

video for multimedia. What techniques would you use
to produce the best possible video, at a reasonable
cost? Which of these techniques apply to all video,
and which apply specifically to multimedia?
First of all we need to script and a product plan.
According to them need to find a suitable location.
Then need to choose a video camera that is suitable for
our production. Also its must to stick with basic rules in
shooting a video. Lighting is major part in making a
video, so good lighting always gives a good quality to
the video. After taking the video footages we need to
edit those and create a finalized video, To do that we
need a computer which has enough performance to
work wit video editing softwares.
4. Briefly discuss what defines the quality of a video
signal.
What factors affect this quality?
Frame rate.
Aspect ratio.
Frame rate.
How do the various analog television signal formats
differ in quality?.
Because each of those contains different scan lines,
frame rates and refreshing rates.
Example :
NTSC - 525 scan lines.
30 fps (29.27).
60 hz refreshing rate.
PAL - 625 scan lines.
25 fps.
50 Hz refreshing rate.
How does the recording format affect this quality?

Because different video formats has different frame

rates, resolution, etc.
What about digital format?
Digital formats ca record video at higher frame rates ,
resolution and good quality.
How can you ensure that your video is of the best
possible quality?
By choosing a good quality video output device(monitor
/ TV) which has a good resolution.
If the end result is going to be a postage-stamp-sized
streaming video clip at 10 frames per second, why
would quality matter?
Even we forget about the quality, 10 fps is very low
frame rate for a video.
5. Define codec and list an example of a codec.
Codec stands for compressor and decompressor / coder
and decoder. Codecs encode and compress streams of
data for storage or for internet use.
Audio Codecs
AAC
MP3
Video Codecs
H.261
H.263
H.264
DivX
MPEG 1
MPEG 2
MPEG 4

6. What is Chroma Keys ? Explain the importance and

the different techniques.
Chroma keying is a technique used for replace
background colour or an image in a video. Chroma
keying is used in movies to replace a blue or green
background with computer generated or separately
shot scenes during post-production.
