Both Google and Yahoo both had plenty of articles on Self-driving cars. What helped me
decide on the two articles I picked was the simple fact that the titles appealed to me. I found it
interesting that when I did a Google search on self-driving cars the article Self driving cars are
coming soon to a highway near you was from Yahoo Tech, and yet when I did the Yahoo
search I did not find this article. The same can be said about my Yahoo search, the article
Googles new self driving car has no steering wheel or brake was not one that I found through
my Google search. Usually I would use Google automatically and would not venture onto
another search engine unless I absolutely could not find the information I was looking for.
However, having to use another search engine in this assignment gave me a new perspective on
the subject. I found that Yahoo had more articles from reputable sources to choose from so far
as my topic was concerned. Although, both search engines did have a range of articles about
self-driving cars from the technology, the concerns people have, and the research behind them
and all articles were from various dates that range from several years ago to earlier today.

Coming from cnn.com this article is very
reliable. The research and figures are up to
date (when posted). Uses experts to sign off on
the topic as well as surveys. Although there
was one source that is identified as an older
man identified only as Nick. which is not
reputable.
To inform. As cnn.com is a news site it is not
trying to sell you something but instead
informing you on issues that are concerning
our world. In this case it is informing potential
consumers about self-driving cars as a product.

This article was updated on Wednesday, May
28, 2014, so it is not the most up to date
information on self-driving cars. However, for
the purpose of this assignment it is recent
enough to still be relevant. The links are still
working, leading you to other articles from
April and May of 2014.

I chose CCBC SmartSearch to find my scholarly journals partly because it was recommended
to us. Also, the other reason I decided to use SmartSearch is I didnt want to make this
assignment harder than I had to, I wanted to attempt to find my journals this way before having

to branch off into a different database. Had I been unable to find scholarly journals on selfdriving cars through SmartSearch, using limiters to narrow down my search results, I wouldve
tried elsewhere but I didnt have to. Of course the SmartSearch picks journals from other
databases so I really pulled from Academic OneFile and Business Source Premier.

Both the Internet article and the scholarly journal were easy enough to find. A simple keyword
search in a Google search and I was able to find plenty of articles, all I had to do was decide
which one to use. As for the scholarly journal I did a similar keyword search and then used
some limiters to narrow down the original 12,000 results to 12 results. The limiters I used
helped me focus on scholarly (peer reviewed) journals closer to 2016. Attempting to limit my
results does not mean that I was able to find a journal from this year, as you can see in the chart
above the most recent journal I found was from July 2005. However, the Internet article I found
was from last week and is in fact a newer article than the one I found on ZDnet.com to use as
my original article. If you are looking for more up to date information I would definitely
recommend using a search engine to find a reputable source before attempting to find a
scholarly journal if you want the most recent date possible. While going a basic Internet search I
found articles that were posted a few hours prior to my search time. The odds of finding a
scholarly journal that was penned and published a few hours prior to your search is near
impossible, you may however find one that was posted to the database within a day of your
search if youre lucky.
