2.1 Content Standards & Student Technology Standards
Candidates model and facilitate the design and implementation of technology-enhanced
learning experiences aligned with student content standards and student technology
standards.

The Engaged Learning artifact is an artifact designed by me to help students meet the
Indicators of Engaged Learning and high levels of technology integration or LoTi. This artifact
was created to give students an opportunity to become actively engaged in the learning process
by utilizing higher order thinking skills through critical thinking, analysis, synthesis, and
evaluation. This artifact requires students to utilize self-regulate learning which prompts
students to ask Where am I going? How am I going? and Where to next?
In this artifact, I modeled and facilitated the design and implementation of technology to
enhance students learning by aligning this artifact with student content standards and student
technology standards. Using the student content standards and student technology standards as a
platform, I created a project that supported and enhanced higher order thinking skills. This
artifact addresses the student content standards or the Georgia Performance Theatre Standards,
TAHSFTI.1 Analyzing and constructing meaning from theatrical experiences, dramatic
literature, and electronic media and TAHSFTI.7. Identify the various art forms which may be
integrated into theater (e.g., dance, music, visual arts, graphic arts, and electronic media). It
also addresses the ISTE Standards for students which include, 1. Creativity and Innovation, 2.
Communication and Collaboration, 3. Research and Information Fluency, 4. Critical Thinking,
Problem Solving, and Decision Making, 5. Digital Citizenship, and 6. Technology Operations
and Concepts.
I have also modeled and facilitated the design and implementation of technology to
enhance students learning by implement Knights, (2007) partnership principles. I was able to

assess and coach a colleague in integrating instructional technology. Through this partnership I
was able to model Socrative, a student response system that engages students while aiding
teachers in collecting data quickly and proficiently. This coaching experience allowed me to see
the importance of communication. I learned that dialogue should be meaningful, honest,
respectful, and empowering (Knight, 2007). Through coaching a colleague in integrating
instructional technology, I was able to effectively communicate ideas and listen emphatically to
my collaborating teacher thus building a successfully relationship with her.
This artifact adheres to the six ISTE Standards for students by requiring students to create
and produce a multimedia presentation that is Authentic/Meaningful. The project encourages
students to be responsible digital citizens by using technology as a means to make informed
decisions and influence social change. This is a hands-on, interactive, collaborative, and Internet
based project that allowed my students to take ownership of their learning. Students utilized
critical thinking and problem-solving skills by researching cyberbullying, and the emotional,
physical, and psychological effects it has on teens. Collaboratively, they determined possible
solutions that can end cyberbullying. Creativity occurred throughout the theatrical production of
Rebeccas Journal and through the development of the persuasive presentation calling for an end
to cyberbullying. To create this presentation and to gain an understanding of the effects of
cyberbullying, students used technology to poll their peers. They also used technology to
communicate and collaborate with peers inside and outside of school, as well as other adults and
experts. Microsoft and Google documents were used to write and to collaborate on scripts.
Students used webcams and cell phones to record videos and edited them using PowerPoint and
Windows MovieMaker. Through PowerPoint, students edited video clips and photos to create an
overall visual effect. Those photos and video clips were integrated it into Windows Movie

Maker to edit the final project. The students used Audacity to create voice overs and to edit
music. Through the project, technology operations and concepts were addressed to ensure that
students understood how the technology tools worked.
To address the TAHSFTI.1 and TAHSFTI.7 state theater standards, students performed a
production of Rebeccas Journal. After the production of Rebeccas Journal, students presented
their multimedia presentations to the audience and their classmates. To reach a wider audience
and to encourage social change, students published their project on Youtube.
I learned that when implementing technology to enhance student learning, it is important
to adhering to the PSC and NETS standards. These standards enhanced student learning,
increase productivity, and promote creativity in my students. When students are actively
engaged, students can utilize critical thinking skills, and produce meaningful products. I also
learned the importance of being a facilitator. Therefore, to improve this artifact, I would like to
strengthen my role as such I believe that by doing so, I will be able to encourage students to take
full responsibility for their learning. In the future, as I stimulate discussions and monitor the
process of student learning, I would like to increase self-regulated learning among my students,
which will require them to be self-directed, self-disciplined, and self-monitored.
This artifact has a great impact on student learning because it adheres to the student
content standards and student technology standards while encouraging critical thinking and
creativity skills. This artifact also encourages students to become good digital citizens and
encourage social change. Being good digital citizens is important due to the increasing use of
technology in schools, the workplace, and our daily lives. To determine the impact this artifact
has on student learning, assessments, such as iPredator and pre and post survey can be

administered. The data collected from these tools will help educators determine the necessary
steps to take to ensure the safety and wellbeing of their students.
