Pajama Day (Bedtime)
Date: Friday, December, 11 2015
Supervisor: Amy Eliason
Lead Teacher:
Clarah Camp
Childrens Names and Learning/Development Goals:.
1. Kambry- Her goal is to lengthen her attention span. This lesson will help her because
it requires to complete a task, and it will have a reward with it.
2. Hunter- Hunter is going to learn his numbers. We are doing a lot of counting using
clocks, this will help him with his basic math skills and number.
3. Jakub- His goal is to be around small focus. The small focus, making paper pajama, is
hands on which he likes, and it does involved a process which will keep him involved.
4. Max- His goal is to be involved in the different centers, and to socialize with the
children. This self selected will have cutting which which is one of his interests and it
will help him come out from under the loft and interact with the children and
socialize.
5. AJ- AJs goal is to become ready for kindergarten. The math in the self selected works
on sorting and very easy fractions.
6. Gratton- His goals is fine motor skills. He will be able to work on this while cutting out
and designing his paper pajamas
Preassessment and Findings:
I asked Hunter if he took naps, he said that doesnt take naps anymore, he is too old
When playing with AJ in the dramatic play I asked him if he has ever made his bed, he
answered and said that his mom makes his bed for him.
I was at the manipulatives and talking to Lindsey I asked her to tell me why we sleep.
She said because if we dont then we get mean and you dont feel very good
When playing with the vegetables outside I asked Eve if she knew why we sleep. She
said that she didnt know why, but she doesnt like to take naps and her mom makes
her
I was playing with Lucy and we were talking about taking naps. I asked where she
slept when she would take a nap, and she said her bed. She also said that she really
likes to sleep because it makes her feel better
Eliahs held the baby dolls and tried to put them to sleep in the carriage.
Maggie held on to baby dolls and walked around the classroom telling everyone to be
quiet because the baby is sleeping.

Activity Description: There will be the first letters of the name of the children and they will trace
the letter multiple times with a dry erase marker. They can easily erase and do it over again to
become more familiar with their name and writing their letters. (paper in closet, markers in
Suannes office)
Child Objective: Children will identify their name and be able to recognize the first letter of their
name by tracing it at least 5 times
Intentional Teaching: While the children are tracing their names go over the different letters and
ask the children to make the sound of each of the letters that they trace.

This is a portable nightlight to create at night
while they are sleeping.

motor skills and their problem solving skills
while creating star nightlights.
Intentional Teaching: Teachers will model
how this is done, and teach them that we sleep
at night and stars come out at night.

Activity Description: There will be 3 different


large paper dolls. There will be different
pajamas and daytime clothes that the children
can put on the dolls. There will be Velcro and
the children can match the clothes to dress the
dolls.
Child Objective: Children will use their fine
motor skills while taking clothes on and off the
dolls, and trying to figure out where the clothes
belong on the doll.
Intentional Teaching: While the children are
putting the clothes on the dolls, ask what the
different is between Pajamas and daytime
clothes. Also ask when we wear pajamas.
Activity Description: Different shaped foam
pieces will be put out. There will be outlines.
The children will match the shapes and try to
create the shape that the picture shows. The
shapes will be a tooth brush, bed, pajamas,
stars, and a moon.
Child Objective: Children will puttogetherand

Intentional Teaching: Model how to
manipulate the foam shapes to create the
shape on the paper. Discuss how we sleep at
night, and before we go to bed we brush our
teeth, and some of us put on Pajama

Activity Description: Have a Tupperware lid


with a lip. Fill it up with milk. Add food coloring
to the milk. After you do this, you will then dip
the toothpick in the Palmolive soap dish. Then
put the toothpick into the paint. It will create
different designs and spread away from the
toothpick. Each child can only do this once.
Child Objective: Children will actively engage
in play and putting materials together to test
end results while creating different designs in

and describe how this is similar to how rain
happens and how the shaving cream is the

Activity Description: In the sensory table set
out 3 different colors of GAK. There will be
stars and a 3 toothbrushes in the GAK. The
children will locate these objects in the GAK.
Child Objective: Children will manipulate and
tolerate strange textures while playing in the
GAk trying to find the glow in the dark stars.
Intentional Teaching: Ask when we use
toothbrushes. Talk about how we sleep at
night, and stars come out during the nighttime.
Activity Description: Have the Legos out and
build different structures. Have the dinosaurs
also out and have them be on top of the Legos
and have the dinosaurs be taking over the city.
Include wooden blocks as well to create the
structures.
Child Objective: Children will increase their
space awareness and creative abilities while
building and creating with the Legos.
Intentional Teaching: Have the children
explore and experiment with building different
structures, see how large or intricate they can
make their wooden structures. Model how to
properly play with blocks.

Activity Description: Have the sleeping bags


set up on the top of the loft. Have pillows and
blankets up there so that they can make the
bed. On the lower level have the kitchen set up
with food, vacuum cleaner, broom, ironing
board and baby dolls so the children can put
the babies to bed and help clean up the
kitchen and make the different beds.

Description: Description: Put tape down on


the side-walk in grid. Have the bean bags in
only 2 different colors in a bucket next to grid.
The children will take turns throwing the

When they get three in a row they will gather
their beans bags and start again.

Intentional Teaching: Have the children
explore different colors, how far they can throw
and the different angles and ways you can
throw a bean bag..
Description: Have 3 clear baskets filled with
snow from outside. Have 3 different paint
colors outside with paintbrushes. They paint
the snow and create different designs in the
snow. When the snow is all painted, the
teachers will throw away that bucket of snow
and grab another one for the children to paint
with.
Objective: Children will use their fine motor
skills while painting in the snow to mix colors.
Intentional Teaching: Have the children mix
the different colors, and explore secondary
colors. Guide the conversation by asking
questions and modeling how to paint the snow
Description: Bring two trampolines outside
and put a blanket taped around it. This will
make it look like a bed, and they can jump on
the trampoline and pretend to make the bed
on the trampoline.
Objective: Children will expand their gross
motor skills and balance skills while jumping on
the trampoline.
Intentional Teaching: While they are
jumping on the bed describe the different
types of beds that we all sleep on.

Description
Ask, What do you do to get ready for bed? I
will have 5 children answer .and talk about
how they get ready for bed. I will have pictures
of a toothbrush, bed ( all the different types), a
bath tub, dinner, a bedtime story. I will also
have other pictures such as pizza, train tracks,
Legos, and shirts and jeans.
I will say, We do a lot of things to get ready
for bed. Do we play with Legos when we are
going to bed? I will go through all of the
different pictures and we will create a flannel
board picture schedule of different things that
we do to get ready for bed. When I hold up the
bed picture, we will go through all the different
types of bed.
I will say, We sleep on bed, but there are a lot
of different types of beds, do you know some
different beds that we sleep on? They will
answer and then I will hold up the different
pictures of the bed. I will say, How are bunk
beds different from a trundle bed, and how are
twin beds different from futans? We will put
the pictures on the flannel board and talk
about which beds that we sleep in.

Description & Objective


Description: As a going away present, we will be
having a slideshow for both the children and the
parents. They will be showing up at 3: 15- 3:30
Popcorn and water will be provided. They will stay
snuggled in their blankets and pillows and have
their parents next to them. We will start the
slideshow and hand out popcorn before and during
the slideshow. After the slideshow the parents can
let them participate in the closing circle, or take
them home.

Description

Materials

The children will locate the different objects that help our
bodies calm down in order to be ready to go to bed. They will
locate the pictures that are part of a bedtime routine. We will
then put the pictures in order to create a picture schedule of
a bedtime routine.
The children will roll the dice and then they perform the
activity that it tells them to do. The children will take turns
rolling the dice and telling the class what to do.
Have a grey rain cloud with blue streamers attached to it.
Have various pictures of different objects, and have a child
detect if it starts with the letter R or if it doesnt. If the picture
does start with the letter R it gets attached to the rain cloud.
A child will come up to the front of the room. When they hold
up the green paper, the children will walk very slowly till they
put up the red light, and then they will freeze where they are.
Then another child will come up and hold up the red and
green light. We will change how we move every time that we

We will read Rainbow Fish. We will talk about how we share
and take turns with out friends. We will also discuss how it
makes us feel when we share with our friends.
The teacher will turn on energetic music and call out different
commands for the children to do. For example, hop like
rabbit. The children hop like rabbits until the teacher tells
them something new. At that point they change and go to the
new command. The teacher will turn off the music at any time
and the children will freeze.
Children will follow the actions to the song Show me what you
Feel. Teachers will model what needs to be done and
participate with the children.
