The Beginning of Tragedy

By: Kashish Singh
In Five Days shall tragedy shall fall
Two lovers destined to fade
Through tragedy that makes irony laugh

Two of separate house that scream for demise

Lying in the heart of the Verona of Italy
Shall weep on the 5th day of grief

Born by foes of discord unknown

Shall pierce their heart and poison their veins
As they pay the price of amity
Burying hate through great grief

Strife of the Houses

And so the end begins
As two serving men of Capulet
And serving men of Montague

Come forth to brawl

On no account but animosity
And perhaps the nature of menfolk

But as soon as it arose

Strife soon collapsed
As the Prince of Verona calls

Chorus of Words

And soon dusk falls

As lord and cousin exchange verses
To wait for summers to wither

To wed our ill-fated youth

Not yet of fourteen winters
But too entice is to woo

And so festivities are composed

And summons sent
But through an untaught mind
And so we meet our doomed gentleman

Who is of fortune
One of educated mind
So the pieces fall into place
As payment is to invite

And to forget heartache

Shall companion embolden
To join in such festivities

And so began turning the wheels of fate

To reach the tragedy as the tale unfolds
Of two lovers destined to fade
Of Romeo and Juliet

Transcending Through Time: The works of William Shakespeare

These pieces of poetry reflect the famous prologue and first few scenes of
Act 1 of the famous play of Romeo and Juliet. The play itself is written in a form
of poetry known as Iambic Pentameter which is a blank verse poem consisting of 5
rhythm meter. Sadly the poems do not reflect this style of poetry but it does reflect
the depth of the brilliance that is Shakespeare. The poems were designed to reflect
the nature of the story of Rome and Juliet. In other words, it is a tragedy made by
certain events occurring while at the same time, trying to sum up what goes on in
each scene in a brief and informative way that also reflects a sort of art by using
words.
Helpful tools were used to create these poems such as Microsoft Word 2013
as well as the useful thesaurus and diction features provided by the program. Also a
script/text version was used to view certain points in the scenes. This was provided
via Mrs. Taffs very helpful website for the project. Thank you for providing the
information else this would have been much more difficult to create. Besides the
mentioned resources, the only other thing used were fingers and keys on a
keyboard.

The works of William Shakespeare has long since existed and show no signs
of being forgotten anytime soon in both in todays day and age, and in the vast
future as well. But how is this exactly proven? Well my own poems already reflect
that William Shakespeare is an important enough of a writer that his writing is
taught in schools today. Obviously this already shows that many education systems
believe that Shakespeares work is a very important part of our history. But why is
it still relevant today besides being taught in books?
Well, Shakespeares writing as well as his life is still something that is still
very much used today. Whether it be movie reenactments/retellings of famous
plays such as Hamlet, Caspian, and Romeo and Juliet, to actually plays still being

acted out in the Globe Theater where Shakespeare originally debut his works. All
you have to do is look at what we have done with Shakespeares work to see that
even in todays day and age, his works are still interesting and important enough to
be so prominent in our culture. Even if more decades pass, I am certain that his
writing will still live on as a mark of brilliant writing.
