LADDER
Inspection of Ladder
Ladders shall be inspected on quarterly basis by competent
person and applicable quarterly color code will be painted
on side rail.
Color code is green for the month of Jan Feb. and March.
Always inspect the ladder for defects, Such as Broken
rungs, Loose or missing rivets before use.
Set up of Ladder
Ladder shall be placed so that horizontal distance from the
base to the vertical plane of the support is one fourth of the
ladder length between the supports(75 degree to the
horizontal).
The feet of the ladder shall be placed on the firm ground.
Ladder should be tied off or firmly held by an assistant
when in use.
Ladder should extend approximately 3ft(1m) over an
elevated platform.
Metal ladder used shall be tested as given in pocket book of
ITDcem.
Aluminum or metal ladder shall not be used when working
on or around live electrical units/system.
Step ladder shall be fully opened and locked before use.
Only one person should be on ladder at a time.
When ascending or descending ladder
hold on with both hands,
Always face ladder,
ensure shoes are free from oil or grease
Straight ladder shall not be longer than 20ft(6m) and
extension ladder shall not be longer than 36ft(11m).
Storing of Ladder

Return ladders to storage area after use.

Store ladders where they are protected from the weather.
Support ladders horizontally on racks. To prevent sagging,
support ladders every 1.8 m (6 ft).
Keep ladders clean and free of foreign materials
