The&Locating&Loved&Ones&in&Heaven&intervention&is&narrative(therapy(grief(work&strategy&designed&
by&Calgary&psychologist,&Claire&Malcolm.&When&facilitating&griefQspecific&counselling,&this&intervention&
should&be&used&early(in(the(therapeutic(process&(C.&Malcolm,&personal&communication,&October&7,&
2015)&but&could&be&utilized&in&other&therapeutic&situations&when&a&loss&has&occurred.&The&purpose&of&
the&Locating&Loved&Ones&in&Heaven&intervention&is&to&create(a(new(mental(conceptualization&of&a&
deceased&loved&one&that&can&be&integrated&into&the&clients&memories&and&understanding&of&that&
person&to&promote(post7traumatic(resilience&(C.&Malcolm,&personal&communication,&October&7,&
2015).&
Why(the(Locating(Loved(Ones(in(Heaven(intervention(is(so(great:(
Utilizes&multiple(therapeutic(approaches&to&effectively&explore&cognitive&and&affective&domains&
(specifically&verbal&processing,&expressive&arts,&and&imagery)&
Caters&to&clients&spiritual(and/or(religious(beliefs,&a&suggested&grief&work&best&practice&

Responds(to(the(common(grief(struggle&of&finding&a&place&for&lost&loved&ones&&(Winokuer&&&

Promotes&a&meaningful(reconnection&with&deceased&loved&one,&as&per&the&continuing&bonds&
