Albert Einsteins Theory of Relativity and Sigmund Freuds Theory of the Human
Mind

Thesis
Sigmund Freud was an Austrian neurologist who was born in 1856. He had given rise to
a new subject called, Psychoanalysis, which is a prevailing teaching in the past as well
as the present. Although Albert Einsteins Theory of Relativity is more prevalent around
the world, Freuds ideas on psychoanalysis are just as revolutionary as Einsteins
Theory of Relativity

Data
In 1905, Einstein proposed the concept of the Theory of Relativity. He stated that
while light is constant on anywhere else on earth, space and time, which were once
thought to be constant, are not. This revolutionary theory utterly altered peoples
viewpoint of the world. Most people once considered that space and time were
constant; however the Theory of Relativity knocked them all down. The theory about the
uncertainty and relativity replaced Isaac Newtons idea about how the world moved
according to the laws of motion and gravity.
Unlike Einsteins physical theory, Freuds idea was about Psychology. Freud was a
person who would treat patients with psychological problems. However, through all
these experiences when he was treating the patients, he proposed a theory about the
human mind. He considered that people have three types of mind: The Unconscious
mind, the Conscious mind, and the Preconscious mind. The Unconscious mind is
the mind type that people stay mostly in. They often have irrational minds that are
mostly pleasure-driving. Freud mentions that our behaviors are influenced by these
factors without our consciousness, hence the name, Unconscious. The Conscious

mind refers to our mental when we are consciously thinking and using our brains on
something that is rational. Thus, the conscious mind is the exact opposite of the famous
Unconscious mind. Finally, the Preconscious mind is to be the mind state when it is
representing our ordinary memory. We memorize subjects unconsciously; however we
are conscious when we retrieve the memorized aspect.
Analysis
Einstein had a remarkable theory because it was something that completely
changed the humans view of the world. Humans were broken free from an absolute
notion that had kept them from noticing the large difference between time and light.
However, like Einsteins theory, Freuds theory is also significant for several reasons.
Freuds theory also revolutionized the peoples view of themselves. During Freuds
period, people did not even had the concept of the human mind. However, Freud made
something out of nothing, which is nothing ordinary to do. Humans once thought that
they were conscious at all times, however, Freuds theory state that humans virtually
spend most of their time being unconscious about their feelings, which are pleasant.
This is also revolutionary to the present time as well. We are often remembering most of
our sad, heartbreaking, bitter times, however, through Freud, we utterly change our
viewpoint. We do not have sad events every time. We also have numerous happy
memories, maybe even more than our sad events. However, we feel that we have more
heart aching times, because our happy memories are saved unconsciously without us
knowing. If someone tells to us that an aspect is the complete opposite, that would be
significant enough, and that is what Freuds theory did for the Psychological world.
Moreover, his theory was very significant that he became the founder of a new subject
called, Psychoanalysis. Because, many people have the opportunity to learn physics,
and a small number of people learn psychoanalysis does not mean that Einsteins
physics-related idea is more revolutionary than Freuds psychoanalytical theory. People
sometimes misunderstand that Einsteins theory is more revolutionary however; they did
not have a single chance to learn what Freuds theory is about.

Conclusion
Therefore, because Einstein was much famous does not mean that his theory
was much revolutionary as Freuds. Freuds theory completely matches the
requirements for it to become significant. Freuds theory not only did it open to a new
path of Psychology, but it also changed the world viewpoint of the human mind. He
created a theory without any outline. It is like making something new with having only
the materials, but not the picture of the final resulting product. Thus, Freuds theory does
have a right to be called a major outbreak in the science field. There is no doubt that
Freuds theory of the human mind was as revolutionary as Einsteins theory.
