The Fosters
Who or What produces and finances this?
The Fosters is an American family drama television series that airs on the ABC Family network.
The series follows the lives of the Foster family, consisting of a lesbian couple, raising a multiethnic blended family of biological, adopted and foster children. ABC Family is produced and
financed under the Walt Disney Company.
What is the Moral point of view associated with your choice of media product?
The Fosters television series tackles social issues that can catch a lot of attention with topics
like rape including in how it affected a specific girl, mental illnesses like ADHD and Alcoholism,
and figuring out one's gender identity and sexuality.
Any relationship between who finances and the point of view it represents?
I would say yes there is a relationship between who finances this television show and the point
of view it represents. Disney is who finances this television show and Disney has always aimed
their audiences for their movies and television shows for adolescents and young adults.
What type of Media Theory is evident in the distribution of information is found in media
product?
I would probably say that the Media Theory that best describes what the Fosters would be
would be the Media Richness Theory. The Media Richness Theory handles multiple information
cues, personal focuses, and uses natural languages. The Fosters uses tasks that involve
interpersonal skills, such as resolving disagreements. As well as how personal The Fosters are
in pursuing and delivering their messages in verbal and nonverbal ways.
Is this information clear for audience intended for? Why?
For The Fosters, yes Disney usually aims for adolescents and young adults but this show also
attracts middle aged adults as well. I, a young adult, watch this show with my mother.
